Synopsis: Untitled
Set against the backdrop of a first-person narrative of a teenager on a road trip with her friends, this novel explores the boundaries between dreams and reality. Interspersed with dreams and fairy tales, the novel becomes a whirlwind ride through the lives of the four teenagers. As the boundary between reality and dreams becomes more and more blurred, the reader is left wondering - what really happened? What was dreamed? And is there truly a difference between what we perceive as the "real world", and the dream world that we have all experienced?
Excerpt: Untitled
“I wish we had something to do.”
“Yeah. Me too. But there’s really nothing to do around here which is why I fucking hate this place.”
“Same.” I thought for a moment, frustrated. “I wish we could do something…big. I wish we could have an adventure, do something life-changing, inspiring…enlightening.” I laughed, thinking I was being silly, making empty wishes.
Milo seemed to perk up and I couldn’t help thinking he looked like a squirrel that’s sensed a dog, or a dog that’s sensed a squirrel (I don’t really know which comparison would be the least insulting). He had an idea and I wanted to hear it.
“Well, I mean…it’s stupid. We could never really do it, it’s just a nice thought.”
“Tell me right now, Milo!”
He laughed self-consciously. “We could take a road trip.”
