I learned of NaNoWriMo many years ago.

All right. If I must be specific, I was about 11 and a member of an awesome Neopets group known as "NTAG"--the Neopian Time Appreciation Guild. They taught me a lot of what I know about writing today, and every year I would hear of this November phenomena and commit to participating "next time." Yet year after year passed and, upon exiting gleeful childhood, my life took a new path. NaNo just "never worked out." Until this year. Technically it doesn't "work out" either, because I'm busier than ever, but I don't care.

I'm done with the excuses. I'm here to write.

And though as of now I know not what, I amazingly don't care. It doesn't matter if I win or lose--that I finally made the commitment is success enough for me.

...But winning would still be great.
