Synopsis: The Book of Di-Ne

There are seven divisions of power: Light Magic, Dark Magic, Element, Combat, Alchemy, Shape-Shift, and Sight. There are a group of seven people that are the strongest in their division of power: they are the Di-Ne.

The Di-Ne of Sight casts to locate the next generation, so they can be found and trained as leaders of the World of Magic. However, when the old Seer is murdered before he can find the next Di-Ne of Sight, the Di-Ne children are cast into hiding. Three are sent to the Mortal World across the Vail that separates and protects the World of Magic from those who, centuries ago, rose against magic and persecuted them. As time went on, the Di-Ne of Dark Magic came out of hiding and went against the Guild of Di-Ne, the world power at the time. The other Di-Ne were still lost to the world, but many were searching. Both the Guild and the Di-Ne of Dark Magic were racing to find the other Di-Ne Children.

Soren, one of the Di-Ne Children, set out in secret with the help of a mysterious contact to find the other Di-Ne and ask for their help. When he finds a way to contact the Di-Ne of Light, he finds three people rather than one (Rodney, Amara, and Tursanay), and doesn't know which is the true Di-Ne of Light. When he leads them across the Vail to the World of Magic, he soon finds they are all Di-Ne. Together the group travel to be trained so they can find a way to help the turmoil that is slowly brewing in the heart of this strange world. They meet new and strange people along the way, and find another Di-Ne Child in the process (Attalira). As they train, they begin to find out more and more about the situation and why they are there. They soon, however, uncover something right under the noses of the Members of the Guild that the Guild would rather keep buried. . . forever.
