Synopsis: Essouffle et Attente

Jamie is a 23 year old would-be screenwriter who moves to California to make her dreams come true. She meets Noah, a man who seems to have connections. Rumor has it that he was once involved with the private and reclusive, internationally-renowned actress: Julia Verlaine. Although something is strangely off about him, she continues to see him. Their relationship turns romantic, then dangerous.

Noah and Jamie seem doomed from the start, and maybe they are. But Jamie has to take the chance, because her life is otherwise meaningless. Will deception, obsession and fear ruin their relationship before it even begins?

Genre/Themes: I chose romance, but I think it also has elements of mystery and suspense. I am going for a romantic thriller, but also feel it is French New Wavey in tone, hence the French title, nodding to Godard and Truffaut.

Spontaneous Combustion: I am simultaneously working on a screenplay about a teen-age girl who is torn from everything she loves called LEAVING CIVILIZATION.
