Synopsis:

Esso and Jocasta, twins from the bible belt, travel to New York City during the nuclear apocalypse to participate in what they believe is the rapture. Hoping to find Jesus, the siblings get in their truck and trek through the fallout wasteland, meeting victims of the war, two cults, the Chupacabra, and the Devil herself.

Excerpt:

The radio was louder now, clearer, and Esso could hear the same voice he heard in the previous broadcast at the gas station. The sounds of helicopters nearly drowned out the speaker’s voice.
“-been taken out of the quarantine area, along with many other nearby survivors and newscasters. There is no hope for those inside the five-mile radius. There are refugees pouring out of the island into nearby states, but those within the cordon are set apart. They’ve suffered terrible radiation poisoning, with—“ Jocasta pushed the radio from its place on the counter, watching as it slammed into the linoleum floor. It shattered, sputtering out the voice of the news anchor.
“God damn liberal news,” Jocasta said casually. She placed her hand back on her gun as the waitress came forward with two browned omelets.
