Excerpt: Exuberant Imperfection - the perfect novel imperfectly expressed
Cora slipped out of her dressing gown and into the gigantic bathroom of her dreams. She stretched and flexed all six toes on her right foot before stepped naked on to the digital scales. The read out made her flinch. Too high. Turns out wishing alone wasn’t enough to lower the number displayed each morning on that little liquid crystal display screen. She might have to actually DO something about it.
Cora showered and dried herself. She could have done all of that in great detail for the word count but she couldn’t be bothered tonight. She was tired, and like an Ed Wood movie, the time of day kept flipping back and forth, and that alone was making her feel completely flipped out. She lit a cigarette and then realised that she was not a smoker. A little more character analysis may need to be done. Not to mention arranging a firing squad for the author’s inner critic. That seriously had to go. Seriously. Cora was seriously serious about being so serious on this serious topic. True dinks. It was time for a cup of tea.
She picked up her jeans from the back of the dining chair where she had draped them the night before as she undressed on the walk through the house from the couch to the bedroom. This living alone business had made her sloppy. A tee shirt straight off the clothes horse in the kitchen completed the look. And brought her closer to the kettle.
