Synopsis: Death, Inc.
Keith, a webprogrammer and all around huge nerd becomes the new Death after challenging the old one to a game of D&D and winning completely (this may or may not have been inspired by an xkcd strip). Finding the organization to be sloppy and inefficient, he starts making changes to the way things are run, but all are not very happy about this.
Excerpt: Death, Inc.
Keith coughed miserably and then sunk back against the pillows. Damn influenza, he thought, and then he wondered what Captain Kirk would do in a situation like this. Well, there was the trouble, wasn't there? Captain Kirk wouldn't get infected with the influenza and be one of the unlucky few who required intensive care over it. His iron constitution would mean he'd be the one saving the day, not the poor guy who needed to be saved – and if against all odds Kirk did become sick, succumbing to an illness that would most likely claim the rest of the crew as well, then there was the green-blooded Spock, immune to mostly every contageous disease in the galaxy due to the fact that his blood was copper based instead of iron based. Keith decided he really needed a Spock in his life, but until Earth developed its warp technology and the Vulcans made first contact, he was probably out of luck.
