Brief Author Bio: I have been writing fantasy and sci-fi since I was 9. I have held far too many jobs, and generally refer to myself as a Multi-talented, multi-tasking jack-of-all-trades. To publish and make a career of writing is my ultimate goal. I was born and raised in the suburbs of Minneapolis, MN. My parents exposed me to Star Wars at the impressionable age of 5, and I've been creating fantastic galaxies of space travel and adventure or worlds of swords and sorcery most of my life. I attended Ithaca College from the Fall of 1991 til May 1995, when I graduated with a BA in Drama, having also minored in Art History and Audio Production. After getting my mostly useless degree in theatre, I wanted to stay on the East Coast, and relocated to Northern New Jersey, where I've bounced from job to job, but somehow made some semblance of a life. I am currently a resident of one of the smaller towns of Bergen County in Northern New Jersey. |

Synopsis: Shades of Mediocrity
Shades of Mediocrity takes place ten years in the future. Nine states of the Northeast have seceded from the Union, and become the Northeastern American States. Recognized by nations across the world, but certainly not by the US President, a man named Halpern, representative of the Fundamentalist party (a result of the 2010 split of the Republicans, forming the Conservative and Fundamentalist parties in the process), we meet Marcus Noble, an average citizen living in the new nation. As the story opens, we learn that California, Oregon and Washington will be voting to secede as well, becoming the Pacific Coast Coalition. Marcus witnesses a man get gunned down on the Delaware River, and winds up with a briefcase - a briefcase with all kinds of plans from the US Government.
Marcus soon learns that he has not come by this briefcase by chance - he is, in fact, a sleeper agent of the Northeaster Security Bureau, the NAS's equivalent of both the CIA and FBI. No longer the simple administrative assistant he believed he was, Marcus has to unlock the clues that will reveal President Halpern's reaction to the probable secession of the Pacific coast states, and he has to find a way to stop him from committing atrocities that will rip the already divided continent apart beyond everyone's worst fears.
