Anyone near Ridgecrest, Trona, Inyokern, Randsburg - want to meet up? Our nearest ML is 1.5 hours away in Lancaster, and the next is in Bakersfield. I applied too late to get a group in R/C, but if we'd like to use this board to plan meetups and writeins we could have a group ready to go for next year!

So how about it? Anyone want a kick-off party? We've got Baskin Robbins, Casa Java, Nickoletti's...Any ideas? Takers?

I hope we can pull together another great team of wrimo pals. Last year we had about 7 or 8 folks meeting Sundays in Redding. (And of course writing each other here) . It would be great to do it again.

For new folks: I'm in Trinity County, this will be my third Nano - I won the past two years. I have a two vague ideas for my book this year and am starting to realize I have to start actually planning. Oy.

I'm really looking forward to November.

Here are the directions of how to get there:

CK Cafe is really a hole-in-the-wall. CK Cafe is at 109 Yale Avenue. You'll want to park on Yale then walk toward the Heroes Bar and Grill. You turn before you get to Heroes. You'll find yourself in a little alley that leads into a parking lot. To your lefth you will see a patio. There's a door on the patio that leads into CK Cafe. It might be hard to find, but it is worth it. The place has great atmosphere and wonderful coffee and tea. And: free wi-fi!

Last year there was a pretty good-sized group of locals - there were even weekly meetups at Cafe Mekka. I was so disappointed I had to miss them, and I am determined this year to go to all the local meetups I can!

Pomona Valley Write-In - November 1st, 1PM, CK Cafe

Hey all! Gonna be doing a bit of cross-posting here. It's going to be all the same information, so you only need to read it once. :D And after reading, and you are interested in attending, please leave a confirm so I can have some idea how many people will be attending.

I'm going to be kicking off November with a write-in for Pomona Valley writers at CK Cafe, in the Claremont Village, at 1PM, on Saturday, November 1st. The event can run as late as we want it to run. :D

CK Cafe is really a hole-in-the-wall. CK Cafe is at 109 Yale Avenue. You'll want to park on Yale then pass the Danson (which is also 109 Yale), going into the alley that is adjacent to the Danson, then turn left and you'll see a patio. There's a door on the patio that leads into CK Cafe. It might be hard to find, but it is worth it. The place has great atmosphere and wonderful coffee and tea. And: free wi-fi!

Hello California Wrimos,

NaNoWriMo HQ is excited to invite you to our second-annual Night of Writing Dangerously Write-a-thon. Come spend a blissful night of eating, drinking, and novel-writing with 200 Bay Area NaNoWriMo participants and staff!

The event is on Saturday, November 15. This year’s theme: NaNo-Noir. We’ll be summoning the spirits of Raymond Chandler and Dashiell Hammett with chiaroscuro lighting, mood-setting background movies, and writing feats more dangerous than falling in love with a femme fatale. Beyond a Shadow of a Doubt, this will be a night you don’t want to miss.

How it Works:

All funds from the Write-a-thon benefit NaNoWriMo's youth and adult programs. To attend, just raise $200 or more in contributions through your easy-to-set-up Write-a-thon Firstgiving page by November 10.

Everyone who comes will get dinner, drinks, caffeine, a funny dinnertime talk by NaNoWriMo Director Chris Baty on 10 Years of NaNoWriMo Craziness, and a special Night of Writing Dangerously tote bag filled with books, writing software, and edible treats. You'll also have a chance to win raffle prizes such as museum passes, yoga classes, movie tickets, spa treatments, bottles of fine wine, and a baseball signed by Judy Blume.
