I have a feeling pirates will come into play somewhere, as they do in all of my work, even the wester... I don't know how it happens, but there is something irresistable about that persona of the pirate.

One of my MC's is a pirate. He's awesome. His sister is also a pirate. She's awesomely crazy.

It's going to be a fun ride :)

I wrote my pirate story last year.

Although I hit the 50K mark before November 30th, I didn't finish the novel until February.

‘Blood - A Pirate’s Tale‘ ended up with over 102,000 words.

I am doing a Pirate novel this year.

It's set in another world that I am going to make up because after talking to a friend who is a history buff, there is just to much work in figuring out where to set my pirates in this world.

To put it bluntly there will be gay pirates. The idea was floating in my head. After I saw De Niro in Stardust it just took off.

I have the opening scene all plotted out. Though I still do need to name my characters. Mom took my baby name book to help a friend name her twins and I haven't got it back yet.

I still have few more plot points to work out. Good thing I have at least a month. :)

I have ghost pirates! On their ghost ship, where they pull people from the freezing North Atlantic and have managed to get a couple of people from the Titanic to join their crew.

I've always wanted to write a story about pirates, or WITH pirates. I might find some random way to involve them, or something. Heh.

I'm starting to think they should make a forum just for pirate stories of all kinds. I wrote pirates two years ago...still need to write the sequel...just not this year. I think there will be a pirate or two in my story (sort of steampunk version of Magellan's voyage). ARRR!!

Aye, matey! Pirates always be makin' an appearance in me novels.

Of course, I don't know what I'm writing yet, but I seem incapable of not mentioning pirates at the very least. And one of these years I'll end up writing the Great Piratical Novel. It might be this year. One never knows.

Gay pirates, huzzah!

De Niro in Stardust was amazingly amusing, but pretty much screwed me over in regards to what I'm writing this year as the one idea I'd had earlier in the year that I really loved - and was still wanting to write months later - would pretty much just seem like I was ripping off Captain Shakespeare if I wrote it now. Woe.

My antagonist is basically a pirate. A space pirate! She's also mad as a sack of ferrets.

At this point I don't see any pirates in my story... however I've still a month of planning to do, bbefore I even start writing, and I can deffinatly see that pirates could be possible if I made a few changes. Since my plot is pretty much empty right now, I can also see how pirates might sneak into my story via the addition of a better plot. I just love pirates.

Was thinking... what about "land pirates"? I was thinking how funny it would be to have a band of pirates that was scared of water, and so didn't sail the seas like regular traditional pirates. Anyone tried this before? Any ideas on how it might be done?

Wouldn't they just be bandits? Can we make bandits honorary pirates?

You know, I'm piecing together random bits and ideas for my story this year because I tend to overplan and want to avoid that... and pirates sound like a looot of fun. They'd even kinda tie into my story pretty nicely. They'll be fantastical pirates, considering my main genre this year is fantasy. Though I seem to be dipping into quite a few places so far already.

If nothing else, a battle between pirates and ninjas should help keep things going!

OMG. The bunnies just took off in my head. That is just a cool idea. If not afraid of the water maybe just land locked. Kinda cross between what usually comes to mind when one hears the word pirate and the nomad tribes of the desert. I may have to re think a few things.

my friend and i have a running gag about 'road pirates', which are basically pirates who drive around in cars. definitely not as funny as pirates who are afraid of water. hi-lar-i-ous.

I'm writing pirates this year! I'm actually doing a rewrite of my novel from last year, but it's been revamped so much it hardly resembles the original. I can't wait!

I have to admit I can't wait either. The suspense is getting rather high now. Is anyone else having trouble waiting until November?
