Hello - not quite in Beds, but at the very top of north Herts, in Hitchin.

A great deal closer to Luton than St Albans!

Good luck to all Beds WriMos.

I'm in Luton...! It's my first year and no, no plans yet - all a bit unsure where it's going to go.

Point it towards 50,000, and use everything you can to get there - support form fellow Beds Wrimos, Word War threads on here, adopt a character thread, the dares thread...

I'd recommend you all swapping emails for chat, as I know last year I often did spontaneous MSN chats with my Wrimos, late at night - squeezing the last few words to meet your daily target, because you're all encouraging each other, word warring, sprinting and just setting goals for each other (like "OK ___, you're on 1884, don't even talk to me until you've got to 2000, now GO!" ;-) )

They work very well. But in any case - good luck Beds!

Thanks Sammy. Sounds like a good plan! Who knows where we'll be in a month's time, apart from at 50000 words.

Well you've all managed more than me already... Can i add all the Beds folks to my buddies list - maybe the shame will help motivate me! First year doing this and I've been so crap at writing this year I really want to get the most out of this, even if I don't make the 50k.

Looks like we are off to a great start!

I'm new to the area and to NANOWRIMO. Open to chats, email, word warring, etc. - whatever works!

Personally, I'm glad these people that's been in my head for so long now are finally coming out!! lol Been thinking about this plot for years and very happy that it's actually getting out of my head and down on paper. Glad I outlined my plot and characters before 1 Nov. - sure helps my flow.

Anyone going to the MK Borders event on Tuesday evening? Missed the launch last Wed, but I'll be there on Tuesday. I'd like to meet some fellow Beds Wrimos if you are there.

Good luck everyone!!!! One word at a time . . .

I'm another Beds. writer, but unlike most, I'm right up the northern end, not far from the Northants and Cambs. borders.

This is my second year attempting this rather foolish endeavour- last year T started 11 days late, got to 23 or 25K pretty quickly, but then lost all interest. I had planned out too much, and nothing was a surprise anymore, so boredom set in.

this year, all i have is a few vague ideas, and a smattering of characters. I thought i knew the brief premise of the story, but due to a sudden demented flash of inspiration whilst i was out in the garden yesterday, the story has gone off in a most unexpected direction.

Still having difficulty motivating myself, as there are so many other things I like to spend my time doing, but hopefully, things will really start to click into place, and it'll just start to come to me.

Being working in fits and starts today, hopefully by the end of it, i shouldn't be too far behind on my word count. at the time of writing this, I'm about 2500 behind what I should be on.

My mate has bet me a fiver i won't make it- it may only be a fiver, but I'm tight, and have no intention parting with it!

Here is a link explaining all the NANOWRIMO events at Borders:

The meetups are all at the Borders store in Milton Keynes, next to the Hockey Stadium, near the train station. http://www.bordersstores.co.uk/storefinder/store/StoreID/77/milton-keyne...

They sound like a lot of fun with good info from local authors. I'm going to try my best to make this week's. I am moving on Friday, tho so can't make promises at this point.

Sorry it took so long to reply. This site is extremely slow for me and sometimes unable to navigate when wanting to do so.

Thanks Penny!
I know Carole Matthews from the Romantic Novelists Association - I'm sure she'll give a great talk. She's lovely.
I can't do Tuesday evenings though at the moment.

Yes, this site is really slow and I've not been able to log on a few times either. If anyone wants to swap emails, facebook PM me - also anyone wanting to come along to the inaugural meet of Leighton Buzzard Writers this Friday - there are only 3 of us so far but I really want to get a writers' group going in LB.

Come on all you Beds folk! You're doing really well, and we have to make sure we keep up with the other Counties :o)

Nah, just joking about that last part.

How are you all doing moral wise? For those whose first time it is, are you struggling, or can you reach your goal every day? Are you happy with your stories?

I must admit I'm finding it hard this year as my job has changed and it quite intense, and I seem to be more tired. Plus I haven't planned this time as well as I should and I'm bored bored bored now! I'm just waffling. It must be my worst novel ever, so I'm going to just get to 50k and stop, then rewrite the whole thing afterwards.

Ho hum...

I, too, am as north of Bedfordshire as you can get - one mile from the Cambridgeshire border in a tiny little village that no one has heard of!
