Time for me to make my presence felt I think.
Yes folks, the squirrel is back and MLing for Wiltshire yet again.

It looks like we're still being lumped in with England:Elsewhere but that's fine, I'm sure everyone else here is 'lovely'.

Wiltshire tends to have a slightly lower than average Nano turn out so I'm claiming, not only those people who live in Wiltshire, but also anyone who'll be visiting here in November. Or driving through. Or looking at it on a map (even if it's by accident).

For newcomers who might be wondering who I am, this will be my third year as a Nano participant and second year as ML. I've had drinks with Terry Brooks, lunch with Steven King and have been pushed out the way by Neil Gaiman, probably on his way to talk to someone far more important. Nothing to do with Nano but I thought I'd get the name dropping out the way early this year.

Vain posturing aside, every single person who turned up to one of my meets last year hit their 50k target, which is pretty good I think and while I probably shouldn't take all the credit for their achievement I'm going to anyway.

Oh, and to avoid any awkward incidents like last year I'd like to make it clear that I am actually male. Even on Tuesdays.

So who's with me this year?

I'm here! I think I can remember you from last year. It's sad the Wiltshirians don't get a forum of our own, but oh well. I wonder how many people will turn up this year?

I used to live in Swinetown - went to college there, worked there, got regularly drunk there - which is the preferred state for experiencing Swindon if you ask me. That was all in the 90's though - I've since retired to South Cerney to drink in local pubs with local people...yes, scarily Royston Vasey like at times.

This is my first Nano, I only heard of its existance early this year and have been waiting for the chance to get cracking ever since.

I have to ask Squirrel, how on earth you were jammy enough to have lunch with Stephen King?!! I'm a huge King, and more specifically DT fan. I mod at a great (of course its great!! :D ) DT site - I'm also very much a fan of Neil Gaiman, although my bookshelf isn't predominantly fanatsy/horror.

So anyway, thats me albeit briefly...I joined the Glos/Chelt group too - but if it comes down to meet ups Swindon is way nearer and dearer!

Hi electricblue & Shadowself,

It's great to have you on board! And it's not even half way through October yet so we should get plenty more.
If anyone wants to suggest meetup venues before the rush then now would be a good time...

Shadowself: Ok, you got me - I had dinner with Steven King, as opposed to the rather more famous Stephen King. Nice guy, but turning up to a literary event with that name is just asking for trouble really.
The other two were really who you think they are though, honest! ;)

Anyone else out there?

Ha ha!! Good on ya Squirrel!!

Well, as far as meet up venues go...are we talking pubs? If thats the case then I vote Old Town for sure...is the Wheatsheaf still going? Just because the bottom end of town pubs are...y'know, a bit pants! But then again - I'm happy to go with the flow.

I don't drive so if anyone from a Cirencester/South Cerney direction could give a lift to someone who's not shy with the petrol money, that'd be cool :D

Maybe I ought to add now to avoid confusion later - I'm female ;)

Hello hello!
Hmmmm feel I should admit - I am a Nano-floozy this year - I have been ingratiating myself with the Bath & Bristol lot because I regualrly goto each city - especially since I'm now a Bristol uni student - so just to say; no offence if I don't join in w/ yr Swindon frolicks.... don't have cause to travel yr way I'm afraid, and my time is precious, so hope to see you, but may not :( Will be rooting for you though!
Anyway, you don't want me on team-Wiltshire, because I may be rubbish this year if academic panic takes hold....
Give us a W....! (etc etc...)
......................................Go Wiltshire!!!

Hmm... Well, I once met someone who used to live in Wiltshire a few years ago, does that count?

Actually, I have more affiliations to the area than that, but I prefer the obscure, it lets you wonder where you stand. :)

One week to go guys, is everyone ready?

Sorry I've been a bit quiet recently - I've been feeling a bit under the weather and spending a lot of time asleep. Never mind though, maybe it means I'll need less in November... maybe.

So, is there anyone else lurking in the shadows? Obviously those here already are great people, fantastic writers and in possession of enviable oral hygiene but it would be nice to see one or two more.

Mmmhm. First year doing NaNo. Living quietly in Wootton Bassett and trying to do my AS levels at the same time.

Hola.

Hi, I'm in Wiltshire. I've only just heard about this thing 2 minutes ago and it starts tomorrow. I have no idea what I'm doing! This should be fun.
