Hi,

I was just wondering if there are any WriMo's on my end of town. I'm way out in Queen Creek with the roadrunners and the occasional dead cow, which, as you might guess, don' t make the best Writing Buddies.

:)

Hm. I'm in the East Valley, further east than Queen Creek, I believe. I can't remember how far Thatcher is from Queen Creek. I remember passing through it during my several times from where I am to Phoenix. And~ I don't have a car. The most depressing thing to own up to right now for me.... At least I don't have to pay for gas. ^^'

Well, I'm moving back to Tempe in the middle of the month, and have some friends out in Gilbert so have occasion/excuse to head to points east and south of home on a semi-regular basis.

This assumes my car survives the trip back from Texas...

Coincidentally, that's the reason I don't own a car. The I'd one get probably wouldn't survive the trip here and it hasn't been towed over here yet.

Dearest ElfDragon12,

How can you be In College, be further east than Queen Creek and not have a car? What college are you attending? University of New Mexico?

But it doesn't matter! You will have NO time for a car, come November! You'll be too busy creating, right?

Best of luck in November! What will you be writing?

A.

Ravin,

Best of luck moving back to Tempe!

I love Billy Joel but can't listen to him while I'm writing because I have to sing along. Doesn't work for me!

If you need any more Writing Buddies, please add me to your list. I'm hoping that some Writing Buddies will help me be more successful this year! :)

Oh, yeah, ElfDragon12! I forgot to say that I would love to be added to your list of Writing Buddies!

Now, THAT"S depressing! Begging strangers to be your Writing Buddy! :)

I live in Tempe during the week and Chandler during the weekends. (College student, part-time in the dorms, part-time at home.)

[Raises hand] Me! I'm in Gilbert, the land of nothingness and no three-story buildings unless you count the "mall" in old town Gilbert, but I don't because one story is underground. Ok, now you all think I'm weird. That's ok, you're right. This is my first year at NaNo.

I'm here in Mesa!! If anyone wants to add me to their buddy list, feel free! I could use a few more myself.

I am in Tempe and looking for older writing buddies- the 50 year old crowd who have gone back to college as I have? Anyone out there?

Nah, gotta be EAC if you're in Thatcher. I lived about an hour south of there without a car for six years :P

I'm in the EV but given how bad I've been with meeting up the past few years I'm just gonna say I might drop by a coffee house a time or two if I get the chance.

I'm at the Mesa/Tempe border here. Kind of in the middle between MCC and ASU location wise. This is my first year and I'm so jazzed about it :) I'm hoping to make lots of Writing Buddies too

East Mesa. Hop skip and jump from AJ.
Single mom.
Over 40, but not going to school, if that counts, Excellence. :)
Curious to how this will work out, here. Looking forward to it.

No, Eastern Arizona College. If looking at a regular map, you have to look for Safford. Everything is pretty close together, centered around the college. I generally manage to survive. If I need to go Walmart, I just snag a ride from my pals. It's the only big place to shop over here. No mall or anything, but it doesn't matter to me because I'm not a big shopper anyway.

Yeah, I'll be real busy sitting at my laptop doing NaNo when I probably have homework. Eheh.

I'll be writing a adventure fantasy novel about dragons, but not like Paolini's dragons. More like D&D-style dragons. There will be small elements of humor and romance, it's mainly plot-driven adventure. I'm super-excited to get working on it. i've got a ton of information on it gathered together already. Last year, I was barely thinking of a plot around the last week or such.

I'd like to be writing buddies, too. ^^

Would anyone be interested in meeting somewhere, maybe in Mesa or Tempe, to sit and write one day in November? It sounds like we have different ages and walks of life represented here. I think it would be fun to meet up and work on our stories. (See, I'm desperate for some support since I've flunked out on my previous three attempts!)

Anyone interested? :)

I'm smack in the middle of downtown Mesa, and sad to report that the former Coffee Talk (now "In the Bungalow" or something like that) is no longer open at night, except open-mike Wednesdays, or at all on the weekends.

Wow, that totally doesn't open itself to sarcastic humor in response. Can you post something I can joke about? kthx. :)

I'm in east mesa, somewhat close to AJ. not quite as far out as some of you. I personally like the WIllow House for write-ins, even though it is smack in the center of phoenix.

Well, last year there was an unofficial East Valley group that had its own set of write-ins. But, yeah, it'd be cool to do a couple. There are some great places in downtown Tempe. The Coffee Plantation on mill is great because it's a local chain and it has a ton of seating.

I'm in Gilbert (my part of it was Higley until a couple months ago, and then someone waived a wand, and POP! I'm Gilbertian.)

I'm a 40+ newbie to NaNo who longs to return to college, and I don't care if that counts in the books of Excellence, (no offense there, buddy.)

I would be happy to come out and play whenever possible, but my spouse is ill, so I never know when I can get away. The only venue I can think of for a write-in is Paradise Cafe at Val Vista and Baseline....but....it lacks sufficient funkiness, in my opinion.

Anxious to know you all better -

Leigh

Ha... not quite so far as ElfDragon during the week. I'm from Miami, AZ. I live in Phoenix during the weekends, though.

I'm eager for support, since I failed so dismally last year. I'm ready for this year, though.

Ravin,
I'm in Chandler. If your friends in Gilbert are in NaNo, perhaps we could put together a write-in around here.

You bet! Friend me, Excellence. Be warned, this middle-ager is writing witchcraft and ancient earth magic.

I would love to join you. Maybe one of the new centers along the 202 south loop would be good for you? I'm sure there's a Starbucks or something in one of them. If that's not convenient, suggest another site. This is my 3rd year. I've found that the first ten days or so go smoothly. Then, around the 10th or so, I tend to run out of steam. So... how about a meet-up around that date?

Hey, Andrea, I'm actually in Queen Creek too. Know of any coffee places around here? There must be something at the Signal Butte-ish area off the 60 that wouldn't be *too* far away, right? :) I wouldn't mind a buddy. I just decided on a complete whim to give it another try this year, so I'm not so sure how well it's going to go...

I'm in Tempe, and I'd be interested. I've never actually nano-ed with anybody else... my family has watched my travails with good humor, but nobody's ever joined in.

Hello, all, I'm in Chandler, but I'm still in high school, I'm not sure I could go to any of the write-ins, but I'd love all the on-line support I can get! This is my first time doing nano, I'm very excited! I hope to get to know you all!

I am in Mesa and love Bookman's at Country Club and Southern (mostly because I could walk there). I am open to meeting other places and since my mom is not participating this year she can watch my boy some days.

I live in Snobsdale. (Though, not a snob! I just got REALLY lucky with the apartment I am in. :D) I would be willing to meet in Tempe, or any where. I also wouldn't mind a few in Scottsdale. The Paradise Bakery on Scottsdale road would give out its back room I think and it has free wifi and... yea. Just throwing that out there. Write-ins last year are what helped me actually reach 50k so I hope to do it again this year! :D
