I've had trouble deciding what to do so I'll stick with a basic plot surrounding the hobby of letterboxing..there's some suspense and mystery ..set in modern time. Not alot to go on there but I'm thinking some sort of stalker type situation.

What a fantastic idea for a mystery. You've already got a series of clues and trails through interesting — sometimes isolated — settings. In addition to a stalker situation, a mistaken-identity situation could easily arise from all the anonymity.

From the Letterboxing website:
Letterboxing is an intriguing “treasure hunt” style outdoor activity. Letterboxers hide small, weatherproof boxes in publicly-accessible places (like parks) and post clues to finding the box online on one of several Web sites. However, clues to finding some of the most highly-sought boxes are passed around by word of mouth. There are about 20,000 letterboxes hidden in North America alone. Individual letterboxes usually contain a log book, an often hand-carved rubber stamp and may contain an ink pad. Finders make an imprint of the letterbox's stamp on their personal log book, and leave an imprint of their personal stamp on the letterbox's logbook

Ah, okay. It sounds like geo-caching to me, although I don't know much about either.
But it sounds interesting, and like a great set-up for a mystery. Good luck!
