Anyone in the North Valley? I'm at 16th St. and Bell Rd.

Shall we meet at the Barnes &Noble at Cactus and 40th St again this year? What about a get together before November?

Once again I will attempt to reach the goal.

Hi - I'm at Cave Creek and Bell, and the B&N at Cactus sounds good - is the the one at Kierland closer?
This is my first WriMo - Looking forward to it!

Hullo! North Valley for me too. I live very very north (as in Tatum and Dixileta) but I'm often in the Thunderbird/Tatum area for work. *waves to aturquoise* Did you mean the Borders at Cactus and Tatum? :-) I'd totally be up for that again this year!!

Yes, I mean the Borders. I knew it started with a "B". *waves to gamwyn* I know which store I meant, just couldn't remember the name. Hope to see everyone there this year.

Shall we try for Tuesdays at 6pm? Or would another day be better for everyone?

Hi everyone. I'm new, just heard about this yesterday on a chat and thought it might be just what I need to get my butt in gear. I am to the NW of Phoenix, in the Anthem area. I would love to meet all of you to hear more about your experiences with nanowrimo and writing in general. What do you do at your meetings? Which B&N are you talking about so I can be sure to meet all ofyou there?

Tuesdays at 6pm at the Borders where? What do you do at these meetings? Talk? Share? Write?

Hi everyone, I'm new to Phoenix and excited about meeting some other NaNo people here. I participated last year but only got to about 35,000 words before getting derailed with Thanksgiving preparations. I also did it way back in 2002, but only got to about 20,000 words, so I'm hoping that the third time will be the charm.

Meeting up would be great, but weekdays are tough for me, unless it's after 9 pm, and I kind of doubt that would be a popular time. Would a Saturday or Sunday time be possible? Also, do you guys typically meet for just an hour, or for longer?

Looking forward to November!

Last year there were four of us who met at the Borders on Tatum and Cactus on Wednesday evenings... We usually stuck around for several hours (a couple of us nearly always stayed until close) and were pretty good about actually WRITING. Though we chatted some too, of course. :-) Hearing someone (or several someones) clacking away at their laptops is very inspiring!! I always got some good writing in!

I could do Borders on Tuesday or Wednesday evening... I won't be able to make it until 7ish but that shouldn't hinder anyone from meeting earlier! They're open until 10:00 PM on weekdays (except Friday, when they're open until 11:00). Now that I think of it I could do Fridays too. It's not like any of us will have actual social lives during November, right? :-)

Would anybody be up for doing a Saturday or two at the Starbucks across the street from Desert Ridge (Tatum and the 101)? That's closer up my way where I'll most likely be on weekends. :-)

Yayyy for North Valley Nanos!!

Oh and my name is Joanna and I'm writing FANTASY again this year, woo-hoo!! This will be my third year.

I can DEFINETELY meet you at the Starbucks by Desert Ridge, thats just 15 minutes from me. I can also make the Borders at Tatum and Cactus. Should we plan a date??? Who else is in???

Hey Joanna, Nice to "see" you.
Borders is great for me. I think there is more room there so shall make it Tuesday at 6:00 to whenever?
I wouldn't mind going to Starbucks at Desert Ridge sometimes too. Maybe we could set that up for Wednesdays for those that can't make Borders?
I have no idea what I'm going to write or when. I'll be out of town a week and a half but I'm going to give it the old writer's try.
Somebody asked... we write, some with laptops, some with pen and paper, and we drink lots of coffee or tea.. and just give each other great moral support.

Greetings everyone.
I'm also in the N Valley - pretty much I-17 and Happy Valley. I'm willing to meet just about anywhere (North or NW valley) if it means actually sitting down and getting some writing done :)

Is there anyway we could put together some type of schedule?

Ok, so how about this: Tuesday evening we meet at Borders at Cactus and 40th St at about 6pm until 9 or 10pm; then at Starbucks at Desert Ridge on Wednesdays at 6pm until 9pm, and Saturdays at 2pm until 6pm. These times are not hard and fast, just an approximation of a time to meet and write. All are welcome to join in.

Please post here if you think you can make it to any of these times, or feel free to suggest other times and places to meet.

That sounds like a good mixture of times/places. Just to make sure, the Saturday one is at the Starbucks as well, right?

I can definitely make the Saturday time, so thanks for including that as well as the weekday options!

Sounds like an excellent schedule to me!! I won't be able to make it on Tuesday/Wednesday until closer to 7:00, but barring misfortune, I'll be there!! The Saturday time sounds good as well.

Nice to see you too, Rita! :-)

Oh and just to clarify, Borders is on the Southwest corner of Tatum & Cactus.

Are we going to make our first write-in Saturday the 3rd or Tuesday the 6th?

Looking forward to seeing you all!!

Yes, the Saturday time is also at the Starbucks (not exactly sure myself where at Desert Ridge it is though, help?).

Why not meet on the 3rd, it would get the writing camaraderie off to a good start. See all who can make it! Will be thinking good writing thoughts to those who can't make it.

Hi Everyone! I'm going to shoot for Borders on Tuesday at 6 - I'm not sure about Saturdays at Desert Ridge, but I might be able to make that too. I"m near Cave Creek and Union Hills, and I'm really excited to see so many writers up in this part of town! I'm hauling out a novel I started years ago with the goal of finally finishing the darn thing! My name is Mary, and I'm looking forward to meeting some of you!

aturquoise: the Starbucks isn't actually IN Desert Ridge, it's across the street next to a bunch of little stores. There's a Walgreens or CVS Pharmacy back there (don't remember which), as well as a little pizza place I think and Entres to Go and an AT&T store and a bank and a couple other places. It's on the left if you're heading north on Tatum.

Saturday the 3rd sounds great!

I will probably be able to make a couple of the Saturday get togethers at the Starbucks near Desert Ridge. I will look forward to meeting any of you who will be able to make it =)

I'm up for meeting folks -- but is there anyone out there for whom WEEKDAYS would work?

Any stay-at-home moms or dads -- or retirees -- who would prefer to meet in the morning or early afternoon during the week.

(I'd have to hire a babysitter to make any of the scheduled events so far.)

I'm in North Scottsdale -- the Starbucks on Scottsdale @ Ashler Hills is convenient for me. Or just about anywhere between here (in the middle of nowhere) as far south as Kierland.

Sounds like you live really close to me, pxcampbell! I go to that Starbucks all the time. :-) In the morning/during the week is usually not a good time for me, though... :-( Anybody else?

So I will plan on seeing a few of you Saturday at 2 at Starbucks! I will wear my nano shirt and have a laptop and various notebooks/binders so you won't be able to miss me. :-) Can't wait!

Nano starts in fifteen hours and nine minutes!!!!!!!!!!

So I had a dandy time at the write-in today. A little while after you left, Gamwyn, I got past the troublesome scene and managed to write about 2000 words in the next hour, which was awesome.

Also, I encourage more people should come to the write-ins. It's fun and it really does help to be in a new location (especially one without internet, at least in my case).

I'm actually thinking of heading to either the Borders or the Starbucks on Monday around 2 pm onwards, so if anyone finds that more convenient, you're welcome to join me :-)

Oooh I'm so excited for you, that's awesome!!

Sorry if I missed anybody last night at Borders--I went around seven and it was entirely filled with children so I nixed that and went to Starbucks instead. :-) I probably won't make it tonight, but I expect lots of eager fingers on Saturday!!! :-)

Where will all of you be meeting on Saturday and when? I have yet to connect with anyone, and would love to meet some of you before this crazy thing is actually over. I have to make at least 30k by Sunday night, if not more since I will be out of town for the long holiday weekend. Looks like I'll have to bring the computer along! Let me know if you'll be meeting Saturday, when and where. Thanks!

We've been meeting at the Starbucks near Desert Ridge (on Tatum near the 101, right across the street from Desert Ridge) from about 2 pm onward. Hope to see you there!

I will try to make it. I would love to meet some of you =) My day has become increasingly busy with a soccer game, hair appointment (gotta cover the grey!), and a movie for my friend's birthday. If I can convince my friend to see the movie at Desert Ridge, perhaps I can meet you for a bit. Thanks!

Hey guys!

I'm not gonna be able to make Starbucks tomorrow as I'm headed out to celebrate my sister's birthday. Sorry I have to miss out on the pleasure of your company. :-)

KEEP WRITING!!!

Hi -
Does anyone have write-in's in mind this week, as a last major push? I see that Cactus and 40th was a Tuesday meeting spot, is that still active? Are there power outlets and a place to sit? (clearly I haven't been there before...) I'll try it and hope to see someone there :)

I've been to a few write-in's on the scheduled list (Official Write-in/Event Schedule! *UPDATED 11/13*), but are looking for some closer to me as they move farther than I can go.

I hope it's ok to join the North Valley party late?

Cheers,
Inger
