This thread is for those with no ideas for a story, but who are doing NaNoWriMo anyway. This includes me and I wanted to see how many people actually do this =). It's also my first time trying this, so that is probably why I haven't planned at all...

Considering my atrocious typing skills (which includes an inability to type a sentence without at least one word going wrong!), my exceedingly short attention span and gerneral lack of ideas, I have a surprising sense of...well, not excitement at the next month, considering I have coursework as well as NaNoWriMo, but definately a sense of 'looking forward to the next month'.

The lack of ideas is what was worrying me, but I was looking at the dares forum recently (my family now think I am crazy for laughing at the computer screen for half an hour straight) and I realised that some people do enter this thing not knowing where the hell they are going, where they will end up and even not really knowing what they are doing. So I have a new theory - who needs a plan when you can have a forum?

For instance, I have a couple of ideas, all of which I'm sure could make a good book in the hands of the right person (or at least 50,000 words) but to be honest, I don't want to take any of them on board. They just don't appeal to me, or I feel that I wouldn't be able to make them work. So this is the thread where writers in a similar position - or writers who just need an idea - can come for 'inspiration'. Who needs a plan when you can have a forum? Or, when you can have this forum? Basically, anyone without a plan can come here to share ideas. Thats the idea, anyway...

So here is my offering; they are only general ideas, I don't have a major plot idea for any of them, but they are starter-offs:

1. A book entirely based on the dares forum. I would love to do this but I don't think I have the capacity as a writer to write an actual story that is meant to be serious...ish... that incudes a load of dares. So there is one for you guys to think about.

2. A slushy cheesy love story where two people break up, there is some kind of drama and they end up together again. A RomCom movie in a book, if you catch my drift. Again, one I would like to do but I don't think I would be able to make 50,000 words, and besides which (in my case) it would only end up being rather like The Notebook (if you haven't read this or seen the film by the way, I advise you do).

Hm, like you I joined with NO idea what I was going to write. I had to do something to break this writer's block I am currently suffering from - ANYTHING. Talk about jumping off a cliff right? The idea of writing that many words a day with no direction totally terrifies me.

I don't know where the idea came from - and I've tried to backtrack to find it's source but cannot - but I have an idea for this NaNo thing. I even have put in time building characters and timelines. The fear is, of course, when November 1st hits, it will collapse like a toothpick constructed house in a hurricane.

I haven't yet had the guts to go look at the Dare's Forum - perhaps I should give that a try huh? I wish us ALL the best of luck and hope some enjoyment comes from this project - this huge project - this mind blowing, overwhelming project. Okay - I'm done now!
