Areas of Expertise?

I know a lot about biology, animals of MIssouri, state park rules and regulations, museums, etc.

I'm a student of mythology and folklore. I specialize in Ireland, but know a bit about other places. I've also got quite a bit of knowledge about the supernatural in general and magick in particular.

I may need to ask you some questions Diane since part of my story will be in the state park!

My expertise is in counseling/drug counseing/adolesent counseling.

Just customer service in a call center. I'm very much trying to get out of this field though. You know the interesting stories Gayle has about some of the stupid college students? --They call me sometimes.-- (Or their parents do! Wondering why their child's bill is so high. I actually enjoy when I get to tell them it's due to ppvs.)

Psychology, personality to be precise. If anyone cares terribly much I could bring my DSM and explain how a character with a certain disorder could act, or diagnose them for you >D

I have a lot of fun diagnosing my characters.

My areas of experience, not expertise, are in the life of a writer, martial arts and some basic military matters. Ask away, I'll answer if I know.

I've dabbled a bit in a few foreign languages, specifically French, Japanese, and Latin. I also know the names of most of the small towns between Springfield and St. Louis and I have a wealth of random trivia that might be of some help.

I too am good with biology, especially primatology. I can give you behind-the-scenes information about zoos, having worked with the primates at the Saint Louis Zoo over the summer.

Somehow I doubt it'll come up for anyone, but I've been a paralegal for several years in personal injury, car accidents, some employment discrimination suits.

Other than that, I'm obsessive about cooking soups! Cooking in general, I suppose (its amusing to me when cousins call me for cooking advice, rather than their mom!). Bit of an HP geek, LotR geek, rabid Buffy/Firefly fan, and fancy goldfish geek.

Don't know much about much, but will help if I can.

Things of which I know things:

Crochet-I've been crocheting for a long time, so I can walk you through any questions you might have.

Movies-I watch a lot of movies. I've taken a few classes on film [Media MInor rocks]. If I can't answer something, I have two or three people I can turn to for answers.

Television-I've seen a lot of television [hence the Media Minor]. If I haven't seen it, I can probably still guess the basic plot.

Comic books-I read them. I read a lot of them. Tell me what you're writing, and I may be able to lend you something for inspiration.

Certain police procedures-I heard lots of stories from my dad, and barring that, I can easily call him. Given, it'll be a twenty-minute call, but I can manage it.

Funny/painful stories from years in various forms of customer service-Need a really obnoxious character? I'm sure I can fictionalize some painful memory from my past work experience.

Grammar-I will spell things for you, help you find synonyms, and make sure you understand that there are 2 forms of "your" and 3 forms of "there" and when it is applicable to use any of them.

And that's what I've got. Usefulness will vary.

Why oh why aren't we all collaborating to make one big novel? I can envision a zookeeper at St. Louis Zoo, taking a job at a state park and dealing with customers and working on needlecraft, having troubles with a visitor and winding up in the trauma center!

OK...this isn't a complete list and I don't know if any of it would be helpful but I have a lot of knowledge in the following areas:

*Legal ramifications of existing in two places simultaneously: would one be considered to be stealing the other's identity? In my story, the girl is the first human clone...legal, and known, anyway.

Well, I have a pretty good knowledge of art, the making there of, including ceramics, sculpture, photography and painting. I know glass blowing too, just in case anything art related works.
