Hello Ottawa-ians!

I noticed that there were no posts in our forum, which was extremely depressing. So...I made one!!

So I guess this would be the place to introduce yourself! Since we are going to be working together...Anyways, I'll start.

My name is Elysia, I'm 17 years old and I am in grade 12 at Sacred Heart High School in Stittsville. I live to write, and er...yes. I participated and won NaNo 07 and Screnzy 08. I'm in the air cadets and I work at Tim Hortons. (boo.)

Anyways...Okay...I'm really boring. But hey, what about you guys??

Has anyone been able to have their previous NaNo Novels published? How did it go?

Targets

So, this year I see myself flamboyantly splitting the arrow of last year's word count. In reality, i'll be luck to nick the outter edge of the target. So now i'm dreaming up fun rewards if I hit my mark, and what useful thing I could do if I don't.

What is your personal challenge for NaNo 2008? Do you have any rewards for yourself if you make or surpass it?

How is everyone doing with their Pre-NaNo plotting? Lost? Super-Inspired? Got it nailed down to the period?

I tend to use a mish mash of notebook scrawls, my D-link notepad, laptop, and computer - basically whatever is handy wherever i happen to be.

I've seen those nifty little Neo's, and some creative cue card users.

What do you use during NaNo?

I find that no matter how far-out I try to be in terms of story landscaping, I always seem to find that my immediate environment influences my charaters' surroundings. They see the same rivers and trees that I do, all towns and landmarks are the same - sometimes with different names.

Am I normal?

Are you successfully able to write completely different environments from what you live in? or maybe do you purposefully write about your home town?

Soundtracks

I recently heard a segment on the CBC radio where a Canadian Author was being interviewed for her new book and she is offering it in conjunction with a musician's work - the book comes with a code and you can go online and download the music to listen to while you read her book. I thought "What a fantastic idea!"

And then I thought - but I do that all the time - listen to music while I write - and that is seems to be such a natural idea too.

And then thinking some more on the subject, I realized that some of my stories pull their inspiration direcly from certain songs, and some of my characters have their own songs too.

Do you have certain music that you plug in while writing - or just anything goes? I hear some people prefer silence while writing - but I'm not sure about people like that.

Carleton Place Write-In

I have access to an Internet Café of sorts in Carleton Place. There is wireless and wired access, seating, and a functioning kitchen. Characters

So.. I'm thinking I need to set some characters free that have been locked up for far too long and see where they take me. I have no story outline. Just voices in my head.. err characters with crazy notions of adventure, lust/love, butt-kicking and great accessories.

What do your voices... characters tell you they want?
