The last time I was able to participate actively in NaNo was back in 2005. I discovered that NaNos in the San Fernando Valley were relatively few and far between back then, and those willing and able to attend write-outs were fewer and ... I guess farther between. I'm curious to see if the number of Nanos, particularly in the West Valley, has grown at all, and if there's any interest in write-outs or anything like that.

Thoughts? Comments? Threats? Recipes? Battle plans? Interjections?

I just signed up. I'm in North Hollywood. (I know, I know; it's not the west end of the valley).

I guess I don't know what a write-out is; would it be something where people get together to churn out pages?

Cheers!

Hey! Sherman Oaks here would love to do write-outs. Unfortunately, the me is on a night shift, so would only be available for post-12:30 p.m. stuff or morning/early afternoon.

Write-outs can be many things! The ones I experienced were a chance to sit around and discuss plots and ideas... to help motivate each other and inspire and foster some creativity through discussion and (relatively) like-minded company. We also brought pens and paper or laptops or whatever was available to scribble ideas or rough drafts, and work on our stories. That's the general feel we had. I thought it was fun the few times I was able to make it out.

It would be excellent if we could arrange a write-out or two over the course of the month. I will start thinking about locations to scope out... suggestions welcome!!

I'm in Sherman Oaks also, but I work and go to school in the Woodland Hills/Canoga Park area. Some valley write-ins would be very welcome!

I'm in Reseda, and would be up for anything in the West Valley. Hope to see some of you at some point in November. S

I used to live in Valley Village. It's so small I never would imagine to find anyone from there. Haha.

Well, I used to live in North Hollywood, then Valley Village, now Burbank. So I guess you could call me a Valley girl.

As for write-ins, I hope there are many here!

I'm also in NoHo (ugh, I hate that lame name) close to Van Nuys.

Saturday and Sunday mornings are good for me. There are some decent places, maybe, in this 'hood.

I live in Van Nuys. I have a very slow internet connection but am really trying to get to meetups and writeins. I can get anywhere in SFV. Easily.

Hi there,

I live in Woodland Hills. I'd love to meet up with fellow NanoWriMo writers for a write-out. Let's pick a time and place. I suggest we meet at Gayle's Perks in Northridge (gaylesperks.com). It's a coffee shop with free wifi. It's usually empty and there are a few outlets. Would you like to meet during the first week of November? How about we write furiously at Gayle's on Saturday, Nov. 3rd?

Gayles is great - I like to go there during the weekdays when I can. They've limited their nighttime hours these days, and close at 5ish, but they're open pretty early. I am doing one Write-In at the Starbucks on Ventura Blvd, Studio City on Saturdays, and was thinking of Gayles for Sunday mornings, which wouldn't intefere with your planned Write-In. The more Write-Ins, the better! :-)

Hey, I'm in Chatsworth and up for any write-ins in the Valley. (: While I don't mind a drive out to LA every once in a while (I do love the city, although I barely know it), it'd be nice to stay in the Valley, too, so count me in!

Hi there! I live in Sherman Oaks, and this is my first Nano. I'm pretty excited about it! Sundays are my best days for writeouts--I work in West LA and trying to get anywhere after work is difficult.

I'm a SoCal Wrimo, also based out of Reseda...this'll be year number five and hopefully, completed novel Numero Four. I've been to a couple Write Outs, and I had a blast. I'd love to do something like that again this year...I've been to write outs in both Encino and Woodland Hills, and while I don't drive I'm still relatively mobile.

I'm game for a get together...who's with me? :P

In the past many have met at LuLus Beehive.I have been to several of the Valley meeting places and I will go to more.I am only one block from the Barnes and Noble at the Promenade so I could meet there at the drop of a hat.
I could meet at Gayles or anywhere for that matter.Lets make a decision on a place to meet the first week of November shall we?

IN 2005 there was always a write out at Starbucks at the Barnes & Noble in Encino on a weeknight. I don't think it happened last yr. It seems so far this yr most write outs are on the weekends which is cool, but I'm also looking for weeknights. How about Thursday nights around 7pm, starting on the 1st? Lulu's is cool on weeknights too.

This is my first year and I live in North Hollywood close to Laurel Canyon. I am up for meeting up during the week in the evenings. I am also going to the write-ins on Saturdays at the Starbucks.

I'm in Winnetka in the West Valley. Is that Gayle's meeting firmly set up?

Thursday at the Starbucks at 7 works for me. I will do my best to remember to bring a power strip for our use, as that Starbucks doesn't have a lot of plugs.

I may not make Lulu's this weekend, but will definitely go to as many of those as possible. Anything after noon is awesome for me, since I love my sleeping-in time. ;)

Another Sherman Oaks here. I'm a single mom so most evenings are difficult, but I'll try to make time. My first time trying NaNo. Yikes!

Hey, I'm in Van Nuys, too. Fifth-time NaNo participant, but first time in L.A. (I just moved here in September). This Thursday night won't work for me, but I'm looking forward to meeting some of you at some later point!
