Oh noes!

Still, I'll be interested to see if some of these show up, for example, the dead people. And the poor, planetless Plutonians.

And the rain. We can never forget about that. Especially when we get the nice wind action in there, too.

BWAHAHAHAHA! *gigglesnort* ...I love you.

What? No challenging Azeroth to a word count battle? ;P *looks at her impressive word count, of, uhm... 6, and wanders back to Stormwind. Ayup, procrastinating already!*

Middle-earth, eh? Well, I'm writing in Gondolin this year, and there's a Livejournal for others writing in Middle-earth...

So, consider this an acceptance on the behalf of Middle-earth to your challenge. ;-)

I love the challenge letter :) I'm thinking to print it, and paste it to a notebook cover. Make me laugh in moments of distress, and chortle gleefully at the challenge the rest of the time. Too bad I can't count for both Spokane AND Idaho (Spokane is where I live, Idaho where I consider "Home" nomatter how many years away I am)

Ha! Fantastic. I just dragged my laptop all over the house so I could read that to everyone. XD

So! Being from Spokane, though not currently living there, do I still get to play? If so, what are the rules of this challenge?

Excellent! Thanks for the recognition Keffy!

So, I'm in LA now, and I go to a kickoff meetup tonight and when I tell people "i'm from bellingham but you won't know where that is." the girls are like "oh YOU are challenging the world!!!!! You're city is on the front page of nanowrimo" and I'm like "oh god this is about THAT post isn't it"

*gigglesmirkgiglge*

so, here's my question?

i JUST moved to LA, but i mean, i'm still a hamster, right? i mean, frig, i'm still registered to vote in ferndale. i've changed my home region back and forth between LA and BHAM like 30 times. I just can't decide. I mean, yeah, i reside here and all, but my heart is up there with you guys. I mean, LA has enough help, but bellingham... I kinda feel like as a fresh transplant i gotta represent. so can I be with you, or am i against you, oh bham?

*poutpout*

oh yeah, at the kickoff tonight i had "seattles best" and it made me homesick, as i thought "pfttt, this is soooo not seattle's best"

oh look the horrible grammar has already commenced! :D

Looks like you've challenged us Saskatchewanians. We're already in challenges with two other regions... can we handle another? Someone will get back to you (i.e. either me or the International Ambassador of Saskatchewan).

Pssshtttt, Hurley - if Bellingham can challenge 74 comers (yes, I counted them), including Hogwarts AND Middle Earth, then surely we can handle three?

Challenge Seattle. I dare you.

p.s. I suggest you add a couple classic Russian novelists to the list. Nobody, but nobody, beats those guys for word count.

Melbourne, Australia, is smug in our knowledge that you guys fear our words and have not dared to challenge us, for we would have to crush you if you did. Wise choice.

You won't beat Alexandre Dumas. Homeboy churns out novels. I think he wrote more novels than were in the Goosebumps series, and that's saying something.

Woo-hooooooo! You put LUXEMBOURG on the list!

Yoo-hoo, we're challenged!!! (Well, we knew that... I mean Luxembourg is challenged in a lot of ways, like size-ically and Nobel prizically, but god, you sooo made up for all that by listing us on the OFFICIAL BELLINGHAM WORDCOUNT CHALLENGE LETTER!)

Oh HAPPY day!

(swooning in a pink puddle of happiness, getting on the phone to ring everybody and tell them to CHECK OUT the letter and the challenge!

and of course to sharpen our pencils and crank up our laptops and throw on our writing armour and load our catapults & trebuchets with our slickest, hottest, trippiest willie wonka words to RISE TO THE CHALLENGE!)

There is only like 26 of us, you know. Evil people.

I have to hold the honor high then or somesuch.

I have the impression that this is the kind of list that more people feel sad/challenged/angry/etc about being not being on it than about being on it.

Can Santa Claus use his elves? or is that cheating?

Oxford are currently engaged in a vicious and bloody (un)civil war with the rest of the United Kingdom for Utmost Word Count Supremacy; a war we have triumphed at for the last two years I might add.

We will defeat you, puny Bellingham! You are but fools to think you have any chance of victory! Yaaaarrrgghhhhh!

And just as an afterthought - you don't really think Kevin Federline is capable of writing anything other than his name, do you?

Dear Bellingham, WA:

We are pleased to receive your letter concerning a formal challenge in an epic word count battle. We receive many such letters over the course of the application novel-writing season from many highly-accomplished regions, and the decision of which challenges to accept is always a difficult one.

We are pleased to inform you that your challenge meets our ridiculously and arbitrarily high standards, and that we accept your challenge for the November 2007 novel-writing season.

With all requisite Ivy League pretentiousness,
Yale

P.S. My car broke down in Bellingham once. Brakes went out, smoke spewing from the hood. The works. On a Sunday afternoon, too. But some really nice folks helped me put it back together and I got to enjoy a really pretty summer's day in a gorgeous city while they did. I didn't realize that, on top of being super nice and incredibly gorgeous, Bellingham was also so very ambitious...but now I know. And knowing is half the battle.

He could write it LOTS of times.

I wanna play for Oxford - I'm at the other end of the Cotswolds now, but heck, we just have to beat Cambridge...

Most Auspicious Nanos of Bellingham Washington;

Your gauntlet has been thrown, and the virtuous word warriors of Wisconsin (alliteration never really does work in these situations) have taken up your challenge. Although I am residing in the "elsewhere" section, I know that my local group of 5 writers will fight to our last. We will even accept the handicap of a writer who claims that he has no real intention of winning the challenge this year.

We shall see you on the glorious field of battle under the flag of Clan Divamonkey. The Divamonkey will follow the four tennants of the code;
1) Work Hard
2) Play Hard
3) Use You Powers For Only Good
4) Look Fabulous Doing It!

I met Santa Claus once, so I guess that means I can accept the challenge, right? ;)

Affiliate with our region and grab an attack badger (OxfordNano's offical mascot)! There's a UK war sign up thread in there too.

And beating Cambridge is a given. TRUST ME ON THIS.

We over in Central Massachusetts are offended at the lack of challenge in our general direction! Therefore, we throw down the gauntlet! Or glove! Or an equivalent hand covering!

We will participate in this challenge! We will persevere! We will triumph! We will totally kick your collective butt to Middle Earth and back!

Now, I'll just go inform my WriMos that I've volunteered them in a challenge to the... not death. They still have no idea. Ha. We'll still win though!

Nooooooo! Don't throw down the glove! I have chapped fingertips. Or if you do throw it down at least have the courtesy to pick it up and give it back. And wash it first.
