We have quite a few people affliated with this region- that means a lot of stories will be written soon. What's yours about?

Mine's a dark urban fantasy with mythic overtones.

My novel's in the biopunk genre (new term to me too) and featuring a nice dystopia. Biopunk is science fiction with biological enchancements present in the novel. Genetic engineering, I guess.

I haven't been certain about the genre of my novel, but I think it could be classified paranormal. The working title is "Scribbles."

I don't have my characters defined yet (I know, I'm already behind and I'll regret it), but have a vague idea of the storyline (which, of course, will change as I write). I'm going to invoke the Snowflake method and outline it, starting today, so hopefully, I'll have my ducks in a row November 1.

Mine's a science fantasy. Basically, four college-aged psychics are on the run from the government.

Mine is a satire playing on all video games and popular movies. Some that are going to be under fire are Matrix and Final Fantasy.

I'm doing a fanfic. As this is my first creative writing effort, I think it'll be a little easier for me to base it of someone elses work.

Hay howdy. Don't let my location fool you, I'm attending Art School at the moment in Hot-Lanta but midway through the month I'll be flying on home to Pensacola to spend the winter break. :) Also I'd really like to get in on the Write-In at Barnes and Noble since it's just right up the road from my house but sadly I won't be in town till after the 15th. Will there be another meet up? :)

Aaaaaaaaaaaanyway. Keeping on topic! My novel was created for a class project which features a supremely perfect utopian society, language of flowers, and a would-be revolutionist boy named Iris. Yes. In turn it was inspired by the short story 'Paul's Case' by Willa Cather. :)

well, I'm really new to this all, so I'm just giving it my best shot. I am in pensacola, so I might even know some of ya'll, lol. Well my story is pretty much a revamping of a character I'd created with my husband about 7 years ago, but this is a new twist on it. I have the title named the same as my main character. It's in the first person and it's kind of what I'd call a Fantasy/Adventure/Romance, cuz it's gonna have a bit of all of this, but mostly it's gonna try and be adventure...I think...

Hey everyone, another Wrimo from Pensacola here. Not originally, but it's definitely my adopted hometown, especially since I married a local girl!

This is my first go at writing someting novel length, although I've thought about it for quite a number of years now. I like the idea of trying to get 50K words out in one month though. I think it'll be more of a confidence booster than anything else should I accomplish the goal.

I wanted to write a detective mystery, but didn't feel like it would lend itself to me getting to the end of 50K words real quick (like in a month or less), so I switched gears to a LitFic type idea that I've had for a couple weeks now. I'm writing a first person POV novel about a teenage boy who is addicted to methamphetamine. I start in the beginning with him wanting to die, and working towards that goal. He's got a pistol and a couple hits of meth in his room, but he's too chicken to pull the trigger or administer the overdose.

Then I go back and forth between him freaking out and wanting to die and him remembering his descent into hell. The past parts start out with him about 15 years old and leading the average life, and then he tries meth for the first time. The rest of the book will chronicle his bad experiences that lead him to want to die.

I haven't quite figured out an ending yet, other than I think I might go with something happening right near the end (like someone breaking into his room) and letting the reader decide what happens once he's stopped narrating.

Hope we can all try to get together sometime here in Heaven on Earth Pensacola! I'm really looking forward to lots of sleepless nights!

First time NaNoing, personally. ^-^ I usually write fanfic, so this is something new for me.

Mine's more or less a fantasy--we have magic, a few fantasy-based creatures (I think the most we get is a few Elven races, and even those are in decline), and there might be deities. Not sure yet.

It centers around the idea that there are people born with the ability to take what is in their imaginations and turn it into reality, and what seperates the good ones from the bad ones isn't their motivations or how well-developed their creations are (though this DOES influence it), it's how they use their powers in the first place. Basically, a theme of 'power and it's use and abuse' sort of thing. 'With Great Power' and all that, and 'Absolute power corrupts absolutely.' Hopefully I can show both sides of that.

Characters are selected, I just gotta make sure I can tell the story well without screwing everyone up.

Sadly, I am more just continuing on to a story I have been boring away at all summer. I figured I will just hope to add on 50, 000 words to what I have already written. It is fantasy, I suppose, meets a bit of historical fiction, and my own style genre.

So, "write ins" or whatever. Are we having a meeting? I am gone, to MN, also the 15th.

My story is aimed at an anime/manga/fantasy audience, about a demon prince, abandoned on earth, who must find his way back into his old life and confront the man who sent him away to die 6 years ago. But, considering there's 30+ characters and three books planned, that's just the very bare gist of it. ^_^

Also, anyone else in the Panama City/Lynn Haven area?

My goal in doing Nano every year is to try something new. This year my attempt is at non-fiction laced with enough fiction to fill in the blanks of my memory. So it's a fiction-non-fiction story of my life.

Yeah, I am from PC-fun stuff, this nanowrimo was. I enjoyed writing it-mine was historical fiction set in Russia during the last century, with a little horror thrown in. Nice webpage you have there. Good to find someone else from around here
