Hey, wait a minute! I thought I lived in the outer rim of hell!

I'm in NW Oklahoma, in a puny little town in the middle of nowhere listening to the wind blow, blow and blow some more.

I'm in Clinton. Saw a sign for this on campus at SWOSU. One of my past professors hit me up about it, and I can't really pass up the chance.

It is great to find out someone else around here is doing this.

I'm in Goodwell. At OPSU. I found out about this from friends at another site. Anyone else out here near me?

I'm in Fairview, but I go to college in Alva. Long drive over the flattest land possible.

Hahaha, No such luck! God, I suck at Nano-ing this year. But I'm a glutton for punishment. Can't help it. As for puny little towns...I know all about that, I grew up in a ghost town, pratically. Mom and I counted one day. 13 people.

Not sure if even the smallest of towns know where i used to live! I live in NW Oklahoma, in a little town called Selman. The population of chickens out ran people. Literally. It's about fifteen minutes away from Buffalo

I've been near there. I went through Fort Supply a couple of years ago. Seems like I remember the city hall had a metal roof..?

Well, you probably drove through Buffalo, I do believe the city hall had a metal roof. I really do not remember, because I haven't been there in almost five years. Selman itself is tucked away in a little corner from the highway, so you have to actually drive down a side road to get to the town.

Hey, Sphynx, I know quite a few people who live in Selman. I also know a lot of, what would you call them, Buffalo-ites and Lavernians.

I'm always hearing stories from the old-timers about all the stuff that used to be in Selman, but then the highway got built through Buffalo and finished Selman off.

I'm also somewhat familiar with some of the other towns mentioned in this thread, Fairview, Alva and Fort Supply. Woodward is my general stomping ground area.

I'm glad to see NW Oklahoma is representin'! LOL

I used to be in Woodward almost every weekend ^_^ We would eat dinner at Marie's.

Yea, old timers from Selman absolutly hate Buffalo because of the way it sort of finished the town off. Even my step-father, who started out and went to school in Selmen until 12th grade, is still pretty bitter about it. What's odd is even when I was still going to school there, they're all like "Oh. Selman." At eleven, it was a little hard to undestand why.

Who all do you know from Buffalo! There's probably a REALLY good chance I know them too xDD I was up there not too long ago, for a funeral of the doctor's wife :( Amazing friend of mine.

I'm sure you would know most people in Buffalo if you live in Selman. It's truly a "small world" in Harper County.

Out your way, I know several people (last names only): Hurst, Bond, Quinby, Tunder, etc.

I think I should be able to list the smell of the feed lot as an entity all its own. It's certainly powerful enough to be one.

In Buffalo, of course, it's the usual suspects/clans: Shuman, Buss, Brown, Yauk, Bentley, Lauer, Roberts, Ceniceros, and so on.

The shorter list for you would probably be who you DON'T know!

Back to burning the midnight oil...

Oh yes, I know quite a few of those names! Yauk, Quinby (Mrs. Quinby used to be my teacher in grade school), Rogers, Laur, etc. . .Most of them I know from passing in town, or I went to school with their children. My mother used to work at Hudson-Suther's clinic before we moved back to the city, so she probably knows all of those people!

Oh yes. The feed lot. Not only does the smell get you from a few miles down the road, but if it's really, really hot, or rainy, you could smell it all the way in Selman. Nothing like waking up in the morning to the smell of cow manuere. Yuck.

If you happen to know any of the Millers in Selmen .. good chance I was once related to them a few years ago.

Miller...

I know a Buck and a Chance and probably a few others if I think about it long enough.

I just love the names out here, by the way!
