A strange question I know...

If you had to be infected with one of the seven deadly sins, meaning that it would become your driving factor or all that mattered to you, which would you choose?

For those who dont know the seven deadly sins are: ~lust ~gluttony ~greed ~sltoh ~anger ~envy ~pride.

The one I would want the most? Probably sloth. I'm tired all the time and procrastinate like you wouldn't believe, so I wouldn't mind whiling my life away by not working very hard. :D
Next would probably be greed, because I like to splurge whenever I get money and hoard things forever.

I loved the way that Greed was done in the Full Metal Alchemist manga: a really nice guy who treated those around him well, even those who were otherwise outcasts. Why? Because they're his! That's his stuff! He's not going to break his stuff! It's his STUFF!

Myself, though, I think I would be Pride. It'd be nice never doubting myself.

I Laughed Out Loud. No joke! That's him to a tee. My favorite sin, without a doubt.

Myself? I'd want to be Greed, of course. It would actually be the least noticeable, given our society. Might be thought of as a little... possessive but other than that, you can't beat it. The greed to have more would also be a wonderful incentive to get up and do more. A very ambitious sin, indeed.

Hm. . . anything but gluttony, lust, envy and wrath would be fine with me. Greed, sloth, and pride would be my top three picks, and in that order. (Of course, every time I hear "seven deadly sins" anymore, I automatically think of Fullmetal Alchemist!)

Greed, I think. I think it's pretty much okay today to be greedy, anyway, so it wouldn't get you into as much trouble as most of the other deadly sins would.

Not so much what I'd like to be as the sins I most resemble: Wrath and Lust

My friends and I dressed as the seven deadly sins for Halloween last year and I we were debating which I was more like. In the end we decided on wrath....

Sloth. None of them sound very pleasant as a driving force, and at least with sloth I wouldn't be doing much damage to the rest of the world.

The one I resemble the most would be Pride. I'd choose Lust, however. At least you can keep some kind of mental stability and likability, plus sex isn't as hard to obtain as self-satisfaction or possession nowadays.

You wouldn't happen to have seen that Supernatural season premiere, would you? Haha, anyway.

I think if I had to I would choose Pride (or Vanity). It would only make things easier for me, self-confidence-wise. Not to mention that arrogance gets rewarded every day, despite the fact that most of us think arrogant people are jerks.

Very interesting question, I'd very much like to see where you go with it.

My answer:
1. Pride (completely acceptable ambition).
2. Lust (easy to fulfill).
3. Greed (another acceptable ambition).
4. Wrath (would be a really cool trait for a villain).
5. Gluttony (similar to greed but less fun to watch, maybe fewer friends).
6. Envy (common ambition, leads to misery).
7. Sloth (being unmotivated as a motivating force? Neat idea, but I would hate that).

Sloth, easily. I'm a very unmotivated and sluggish person already. Don't think it would really be all that bad to be my main character trait (Not desirable, though).

The one I would not want would not want is Pride, since I believe that it is the worst sin of all. Anything that is the opposite of humility is, to me, simply wretched.

I fit the bill of all of them as it is, but my fav is Wrath. (Hence why at thirteen I have anger managment courses....)
On a completly unrealated note, i just had to see this topic because my novel is about the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse

Well, everyone has committed each of the seven at least once. It's impossible not to.

And the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse? Always enjoyable. I hope you treat them as the manifestation of divine retribution that they are and not as the more popular malevolent force of evil that everyone associates them with.

This is a cool idea! Here's my list in preferred order:

1. Pride- It would be nice to have the ultimate confidence. Flip side would be...so confident you're a joke, or unapproachable, and you end up the loneliest person on the planet.

2. Wrath-Getting angry and venegance against everyone who has done you wrong would be great. The bad side would be I would end up being a serial murderer with a river of blood on my hands.

3. Greed- I would make a lot of money this way, but would be such a terrible person that people would avoid me like the plague.

4. Lust - Hmm...I'm such a cold fish that this might make me a person with a normal sex life! But if it doesn't, I would hate becoming a person who can't help sleeping with anyone and anything...several times a day.

5. Sloth- I'm already slothful, so this would be a downward slide from that. It would be nice to laze around every day with nothing to worry about, doing whatever I want. Bad side to this is easy, I would end up being homeless and moneyless. Or if the devil is feeling particularly gleeful that day, I would end up being in a coma for the rest of my life. (Ooh! Might take that for a story idea...)

6. Gluttony- I'll get to eat everything I want. The bad would be getting extremely, grossly fat to the point where I can't move any more, and end up having sixteen heart attacks and not dying since the devil won't allow me to. I might not be able to stop eating and end up having to suffer the constant taste of foods I hate!

7. Envy- This one is last since I think it's the emotion that benefits no one. Who wants envy gnawing at your insides, with the whole world tainted with everyone being better, smarter, prettier than you, and having more and better stuff than you do?

Lol, I always think of Full Metal Alchemist too!

For me, I would have to say lust. I never thought of lust as only being associated with sex though. For me, I think that lust just means intense love for...everything. For example, in FMA Lust wanted with all of her being to be a real human, that's what she lusted after, NOT sex. Did she enjoy looking sexual? Oh probably, who doesn't like the power of being attractive? To me, lust is incorporated in all of the sins. Gluttony is just excessive love for food, greed is excessive love for possession, sloth is excessive love for relaxation or laziness, anger is caused by excessive love (again, look at FMA!), envy is excessive love for something (or someone) that isn't yours (and that you can't have), and pride is excessive love for oneself.

That's my opinion, anyway.

Pride is the most dangerous of the deadly sins and the most likely to cause me to damn myself, so I wouldn't want that.

Gluttony is the least dangerous since the things desired are good and unlike lust and greed (where the things desired are usually also good) acting on an appetite for food (either being insatiably hungry or having a delicate appetite) won't hurt anyone but myself. So I'd go with gluttony.

I would have to say Pride first, then Wrath.

Pride, because I'd feel justified all that time, I'd think I were right all the time and no one else's opinion would matter to me, even though it would mean burying that basic need for human interaction. I wouldn't even feel disappointed when other people don't measure up to what I think, because they just can't be expected to behave or act in a way that is completely logical or reasonable. Everyone else could be laughing at me, and I would just be convinced that they have no idea what they're really doing.

Wrath, because venting is good. It makes one a crusader of sorts, and it gives you a very clear course in life, even though it seems completely insane and unreasonable to everyone else.

this is coming from a slightly different angle but to help you may want to look at some artistic portrayals of the seven deadley sins. i would recommend you start with erte.

just a suggestion...but the depictions are stunning and may drive your ideas a little more

anyway, which would i have driving me? lust! imagine...lust for live, love, sex, food, everything that you could want. fantastic!

Sloth first, as I am a lazy person anyway. Gluttony next.
