The NWO NaNos have a tradition of getting together sometime prior to November 1 for a "kickoff meeting" that can consist of dinner or just coffee tawk....whatever floats your boat! We also meet weekly to decompress and walk away from our NaNo projects for a couple of hours....so my questions to you are thus:

1) What's a good night for a pre-NaNo get together?

1A) Do you want to plan on dinner or just coffee, or someplace where you could do either?

2) Let's plan NaNo Meetings for the month of November! Which days of the week are best for you?

Traditionally, we have held these meetings on Thursday evenings any time after 6pm at the Barnes and Noble on Monroe Street in Toledo, across from Westfield Franklin Park. We can stick with the same venue but if you have another preference -- cast yer vote!

Thursdays are about to become a bad night for me as I will probably be taking a copy editing position at the Free Press. It's a one night a week job which is....yep, Thursday night.

Now, if Thursdays are still best for everyone else....feel free to meet! We can aim for weeknights or Saturday or Sunday during the day, or even Sunday evenings.

For those who don't know me.....I am a freelance copywriter/editor/proofreader/voiceover person, and I am currently involved with an ongoing editing project (the first phase of which is supposed to be completed by the end of November) as well as taking on other small projects as they come about.....I am also in training to become a karate instructor and my classes are Monday evening from 7 to 8:30; Tuesday from 7 to 8; and Friday from 5 to about 6:30pm...I also have two children, ages 10 and 4, and all the rights, privileges and obligations that go with that. :-) I'd bet a dubloon a lot of us have similar obligations and responsibilities but let's see what we can do to get together.

Give it some thought and RSVP here! :-)

hmm, with the RE: on there, the subject is too long.

How about Wednesday night?

Nothing on TV that night.

Tuesday is Bones, Thursday is Smallville & CSI, Friday is Ghost Whisperer, Saturday is Torchwood

My best days would be Friday, Saturday or Sunday. I would only be able to meet during the week if it's VERY late (after 8:00 pm Monday/Wednesday, after 11:00 pm Tuesday and Thursday).

Wednesday is the only night I can't meet. (Community band rehearsal.) Anything else is good, as long as I can leave by 10 PM or so and make it back home before I turn into a pumpkin.

No opinions on anything else.

Boy, Chris wasn't kidding when he said today the site was going to run slooooowly.....

I can't get the "Ahoy!" thread to even open....it times out.

Anyhoo....Yay! It's Steph! And Becky! And Garry! And Hello, Michael! Welcome aboard!

It's starting to look like Fridays, I think, with Monday as a close second....maybe Saturday?

I'll give everyone another day or so to throw in their two bits and then we'll throw a dart at the map. ;-)

My best day would be a Friday evening; I'm in class those mornings and I never work that day. But I could also probably swing a Saturday evening given some advance warning.

Friday evenings are best for me, but I could probably pull off Thursdays, too.

Thanks for checking in, E.C., and welcome, emperorhand!

Maybe we'll "float" the weekly meeting...Friday one week, Monday another, Wednesday, another......

Still "plotting".....;-)

I wasn't able to make it last year because of classes on Thursday night, but I'd love to come this year. Again, I have late classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I have early classes on Monday and Wednesday, but I could still come then.

The best days for me are Monday, Wednesday, Friday or Sunday.

Garry, it helps! Thanks for breaking it down!

While it would be convenient to just say, "OK, this is where we're meeting and this is the time and this is the day" I think we're going to mix things up a bit and "float" the meeting days.....that way I think everyone (or close to it) will be able to make at least one or two get-togethers.

I've got a couple other things here that I need to deal with, but by the end of the day today, I'll have something up on the Board re: get-togethers.

For now, I'm leaning toward having the kickoff Monday evening (1o/29)....and that may be the only get together that week. It will give everyone a chance to settle into NaNoWriMo before we meet again.

Stay tuned....

Friday evening seems best fitted for relaxing/ partying with extended hours dinner, post dinner or a drink :). Many can join at diffrent times and stay for varying duration.

I'm all for fridays/saturdays in the evenings, because i never work those days. I *might* be able to swing other evenings, depending on how much sleep i get that day.

Has anyone considered something on like a saturday or sunday MORNING? Like breakfast at Cafe' Marie or something?

Yes, it has been considered. Turn out has been light in general (we don't seem to be morning people).

There are no rules that say folks can't get together in their own groups. We aren't required to meet as whole.

Rowena....

Ditto what Dave has said....and that's open to anyone. If you all are interested in a weekend-daytime meeting it can be arranged! Or feel free to put up a thread suggesting it and anyone who wants to take part can.

I just didn't want to overbook you all and not leave you any time to, you know, WRITE!

And, yeah, I'd sell what's left of my soul for Cafe Marie's omelets.....mmm.

OK....I'm going to get some writing done now.....:D

I just happen to get paid a week from tomorrow, so if anyone wants to get together for breakfast Saturday, November 11, i'm all for it...:)

Which Marie's? I'm closest to the one on Secor, personally...

Ah, November 11th is a Sunday.

Saturday is the 10th and also Ucon in Ann Arbor and, if I can stuff my agoraphobia far enough back, I've got an intention of going up there becasue one of the original creators of the Traveller RPG is there.

Anyone be interested in the Barnes and Noble at Fallen Timbers or maybe Books a Zillion in Perrysburg? I was just wondering where everyone is located and if a more Southern locale would be of interest to anyone.

I would definitely be in to going to B&N at Fallen Timbers. It's much closer to me, and I was just there yesterday as a matter of fact! As a transplant to OH, it's much easier for me to find my way there, rather than Monroe Street. Let me know if anyone else has any interest in this - I'm game.
