How many Techies do we have this year? It's always nice to gather all of us (and, really, anyone else in the area) during November. I'd be willing to host a gathering (again, not limited to GT people), since we've got a nice, roomy living room in a house right across 10th, near Center St.

Sounds like there's group trying to form in the area.

Tech has indoctrinated me so thoroughly that when asked for my username, I put "rfee3." And it's stayed that way. Even better, I didn't realize it until a day later.
I can speak for two- my roommate and I are doing it this year. We're both housed in Woodruff North.

I'll make sure to coordinate with Sushikat (and make sure she sees this) and point this out to her. :) We'll probably be coordinating anyway, since she seems to be over the moon about the possibility of using my house (we used to be roommates, and the kitties left with me).
But I know the other thread didn't jump out at me (I was probably skimming the beginning of the titles), so now we have two. :) And more chances to find people.

rfee3, welcome to a long tradition of insane people who juggle Tech and NaNo. :) What year are you? You must be new-ish, as your ID makes me feel old (I'm back in the days of gtg - not even gth!)...

Hahaa, oh GT.
I'm in North Ave south. Writing sessions at the Tech Square *bucks might prove worthwhile. :)

I'm in North Ave North.
This is my first NaNo, so we'll see how far I can get. I've got to juggle studio along with everything else.

Haha, I live in North Ave South too.
I'd definitely be down for some B&N/Starbucks excursions every weekend, or even at the student center sometime. I'm gonna be all around campus with my laptop next month writing in the student center, library, or wherever else I find myself being.

I'll be returning for a second year - Looking forward to it with great anticipation. I commute to campus quite a distance (live up in Woodstock), but I expect to be doing most of my noveling in the Tech area. I'd definitely be interested in some write-ins and getting together to plot about the novels.
Has there been any discussion of kickoffs//etc in the Tech Library this year? Last year nothing really happened around campus, but hopefully we can get some stuff going this year.

Hey everyone. I'm out in 8th Street. It feels like last week, but this is my fourth NaNo. Just to go back to what Johthe said, last year's midnight meetup was cool except that I don't think anything else happened during the month. I've got a project to work on, but if I can I'll stop by tonight at 9:30.

It is NOT just the kitties that draw me! :O
Anywho, third year bio major here, and this is my first year doing NaNoWriMo (and it shows |D ). What with schoolwork and VarietyTech and work all demanding my attention, I can say that I am a bonafide crazy person for participating.
Are we still on for Saturday? What time? Afternoon seems like it will be best for most people.

Ya, I definitely have a GRE to take this Saturday morning, so afternoon meeting for writing would be most splendid. :)
Co-op, grad school apps, club baseball, undergraduate research, long-distance relationship...I totally have time to write 50,000 words in a month, right?
GT has made me such a masochist. :P

Saturday afternoon will be perfect for me. Most notably because I will probably be awake a lot longer than usual on Friday night frantically writing (my goal is to get to 10k by Sunday evening), and I'll probably be asleep until early afternoon. :)

I'm a new Techie, on my third year of Nano.
Someone mentioned meeting up in the library around midnight tonight to start writing, so I'm going to be there probably from 11p.m. on. The person I'm meeting with doesn't have a laptop, so we'll be in the computer area. Just look for a whole bunch of blond hair with elf ears and a copper fairy wing (which may not be on, but will be with me).

X-posted from the Yahoo group:
Since there definitely seems to be interest for Saturday, sounds good! Details:
Saturday, 11/3/07, 11am - 4pm (I have a dinner at my advisor's at 5)
459 Lynch Ave (Lynch is the itty-bitty street that runs between Rocky Mountain and the church at the corner of 10th and Hirsh)
We have a kettle and hot chocolate. I'll grab some munchies, but please bring some more if you'd like. And if you want tea, let me know ahead of time what kind or bring it with you - I'm not a tea drinker, so I don't have any and I don't know what's good. :)
I have power strips and an extra laptop (it's kinda old, but it works for word processing. :)
If you need to get ahold of me, PM or email me (emily.colvin@gmail.com) for my phone number (I don't mind sending it out to the Yahoo group, but this is a bit too open)

I'm a second year in North Ave North, and this is my first year of NaNo.
Would it be okay if we came late to the shindig? I'm filming the WLC for GTCN and probably won't be able to make it until noon.

Oh, yes, people are welcome to come and go. I'm not going to take attendance or anything. :P Just providing a cozy environment and good company (well, assuming people show up! :P ).
For the newbies, gatherings like this are good, because you can race with the people sitting next to you, etc. If you have a question on something your character's doing, there are people right there to answer it. And if you get stuck, they can suggest creative ways of adding monkeys in for a bit. :)

Hello chickens :) Sorry I wasn't able to coordinate a proper kick-off in the library this year, but I've been incredibly busy at work. Y'all are welcome to stop by any time during the month of November at the Circulation desk (between 12am and 8am) and prod me about my novel- which I actually started! 903 words, only 2000 or so behind schedule. ;)
I might bake cookies, too, but you wouldn't know unless you stop by.
