Hello, fellow Wrimos --
I am offering a laptop, free of charge, to a needy party. But a caveat or two, first.
Grey is a Toshiba laptop and he's about ten years old. Which means heavy and that he's not internet-compatible. But he's perfect for someone who just wants to use Word. He only has a 3.5'' floppy drive, so you might need to hunt up some discs or network him with another computer.
He runs Win 95 quite well and has a placid personality. He's served me well for many, many years and I conceived three Nano novels upon his keyboard, as well as countless ideas and stories.
But now that I have upgraded, Grey needs a new home. He's not damaged in any way, but the port to his power supply may need a bit of cleaning. He's also a little dusty from storage.
First in, best dressed, but only if you promise to be good to him. He's got me through some rough times and deserves love.

Now I actually go back here and read this, this is the most adorable post about a laptop I've ever read!
My laptop's a lovely little macbook I picked up earlier this year, I call her River (yes yes after the Firefly character). We usually get along pretty well but it's been years since I've used a Mac so every now and again she flips out and does things that scare me a little. She's also allergic to publisher files. Her favourite game is Unreal Tournament 2004 and she gets really sick of me playing geometry wars.
Does anyone else here associate names and personalities with their electronics? I've a thumb-drive I call Maromi, a Gamecube called Juicy, a Wii called Wesker, a DS Lite called Alyssa, GBASP called Max. I had a Ipod called Inui, but we don't talk any more. Not since the arguement... :(

Usually she's a good little girl, although lately she's been having a few tantrums. Makes her mummy sad :(
she likes playing with photoshop CS3, MSN messenger (when they arent fighting) and having way too many media players that seem to take turns (randomly) at working...
which is a shame, since she herself is fantastic. she's just... being a brat a bit lately. maybe she is sick? poor thing :(

I do name my computers. I try to come up with creative names but normally I just end up with memorable video game characters. I thoroughly suspect that my new machine, as it gets bought and built will be named GLaDOS. Hehehe.

Tomorrow you will meet my Arch nemesis. yes You shall meet Chaos, my laptop. He's temperamental, hates downloading usefull applications, favourite past time is giving me the blue screen of death. If I'm up too late he switches himself off, which can be very annoying. Solitaire is his favourite game and he hates music programs, if i play music for too long he switches it off. He also hates photos and downloading them from camera's. He's a magnet for Viruses but beats the shit out of them before they can do anything to him. For all his hate of me sometimes we get along well enough. We even have our days when we can almost say we love each other.

My desktop computer never had a name, but my new laptop is called Baldwin (after Kingdom of Heaven's leper king).
My PSP is called Byakuya.
My DS is called Larsa.
My iPod is named Jin.
And my mobile is Renji.
I like naming things. :D I think technology works better if it's loved.
