This thread will be dedicated to announcing regular and impromptu Write-ins, Support & other types of groups, and Get-togethers prior to and throughout November (and possibly beyond). Please be sure to include: What, Where and When, and how to get there. A contact person would also be useful, as well as any possibilities for carpooling.

PLEASE NOTE: Even if you have announced one of the above group activities elsewhere already, I would ask you to post the information again here, to make it easier for people to find. We can then make sure that it ends up in the EVENTS listing for Maine, as well.

Thanks!

Aynslie

I'm going to start off by being the first one to repeat myself:

What: On-going write-in
Where: The back section of Panera Bread, Westbrook, which is in the Shaws/Kohl's shopping center just off the turnpike
When: Every Sunday, all day long, all year long
Contact: Aynslie (Aunt Silly) or Kendra (Silvermander) for more information. We can also be found in the Nano_Maine yahoo group.

Here we go!

Location: Abbracci Trattoria & Espresso Bar -- 225 West Main Street, Searsport, Maine (coming from Bangor, go through all of "downtown Searsport" and it'll be on your right after a little ways toward Belfast. Big old farmhouse. Will have Italian flags and the like flying outside)

Times: Thursdays 5:30-8:00pm & Saturdays 1:00-7:00pm

Please contact Jen (jensoda) if you have any questions or need help with anything. Thanks!

Jen

Who: Windham High School students
What: Kick-Off Party
Where: Corsetti's
When: Right after school on Wednesday, October 31st
Contact: Robyn Stillings (myself)

Who: Anyone!
What: Kick-Off Party/Write-In
Where: Tim Horton's in North Windham
When: 11:30 PM to as late as we end up staying on the night of October 31st
Contact: Robyn Stillings, but as it is totally informal, just pop in and say hi if you want! The idea is to come together and get a head start on our novels right as the clock strikes 12!
Note: I am not expecting a large crowd, nor do I really want a large crowd, especially seeing how I'm not sure how the staff at Tim Horton's will feel about a large group at midnight.

I'd contact the store manager/owner before you go there. I had already talked to the owner of one of the nearby Tim Horton's (He used to be our store manager until he quit) and he said we could stay there for Script Frenzy. Then toward the end he didn't like us sitting there so long and giving an impression of just 'hanging around'. So, before they give you any trouble, I'd stop in and explain what the kick-off is, what NaNo is and if he/she'll allow you to be there.

Who: CeMaWriMo (Central Maine Write More)
What: Kick-Off Party
Where: TBA (Hoping Borders in Bangor by the Bangor Mall but, if not then Starbucks by the Bangor Mall next to Toys R Us.)
When: 10/31 6pm - 8pm
Contact: Goldenmane (yours truly)
Notes: Come dressed in your costume, if you desire. I'll be there as a maid right out of the Renaissance (my costume for work.) We'll have a table sign indicating where we are (though, as long as he can make it and is there, you can't miss the older gentleman in the electric wheelchair (he's a danger on wheels at times . . . ) )

Write-Ins will be as follows (and up on the calendar as soon as I get a local finalized. So far no one's being cooperative this year . . . ):

Sunday 10/4 - 9am - 5pm
Saturday 10/10 - 9am - 5pm
Sunday 10/11 - 9am - 5pm
Saturday 10/17 - 9am - 5pm
Sunday 10/18 - 9am - 5pm
Sunday 10/25 - 9am - 5pm
Friday 10/30 (If anyone is interested I'll open up Friday night for a last minute NaNo jam.)

The TGIO party is planned for 12/1 (Saturday) from 9am - noonish. Also TBD and finalized once I know where we're going and when they open.

Since this hasn't been posted under this thread, I took the libery of ccping it here:

There's a bunch of us that plan to get together on Tuesday evenings in November for moral support/conversations about writing/etc. If any of you are in the Standish area and feel like joining us, stop on by. We'll meet at 6pm starting on November 6th!

I believe the meeting place is Crossroad Games.

Copied from another thread. Not sure how to correct some of the typos:

Just wanted to let you all know ther are nine NaNos in Biddeford and wee eveything at WiggleWeigle's Book at 25 Alfed Street.
We had our first meeting On Nov.1 and 6 of us showed up. We had a great time and each of us read a small excerpt from our book. Can't say how our stories will turn out but we meet again on Thursday Nov. 7. We'll find out how far we've gone.

EelKat,

I ccp'd the info about the Biddeford meetings from the thread "Meetings in Biddeford, Maine", which currently is at the bottom of the Maine forum page. It was posted by Anastasia (screen name Weigle). You should probably PM her to find out the details.

And due to technical difficulties (namely problems with my van) neither Tiki, Rigel or myself won't be able to host the write-ins to Borders this weekend (the 17th and 18th.) Not to say the rest of you who are going to be in the Bangor area can't stop by Borders to write. The space should still be there and open where our table would be set up. Hopefully I can get the van fixed next week so we can, if anyone wants, maybe set up over to Borders on the 25th and definitely we should be able to hold the last minute write-in on Friday the 30th. Just let me know if anyone's interested in having a write-in on the 25th.

Sorry about the last minute changes but I never know when anything's going to break or go wrong with my van -.-;;

i finally got a chance to say HI to everyone writing here in NaNoland. :) Been a very busy month for us here in Bangor and sadly as Goldy says her van broke down again and as of today it is still not repaired, so sadly we had to cancel the rest of the get together's and the TGIO at Borders in the Bangor Mall due to no transportation to get us to the bookstore. Hope everyone had a great time writing, :) I know we all did here and husband Rigelk and myself are still ongoing in our respective stories for this years NaNo writing. :)
Well folks, see you all in the next NaNo contests, everyone have a wonderful and very Merry Christmas. :)
Tikimother :)
