And ... welcome again to the 2008 Toronto NaNo Experience!

As I'm sure you know, there was an unfortunate problem with the NaNo servers that resulted in several days' worth of forum posts being lost. But these things happen -- mere computers cannot hold back the utter majesty and coolness of the Toronto NaNo group!

So yes, welcome again, and allow me to introduce you to the 2008 Municipal Liaisons for our region:

Deej (being me): http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/user/37734
Vic : http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/user/88121
Debs: http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/user/137530

Between the three of us we'll be coordinating all of the events, handling any issues that come up -- guiding this great beautiful cruise ship that is Toronto NaNo '08 as we set sail on November 1st until we come back to safe harbour on the 30th, hopefully with nice thick manuscripts to our credit. (I'll be the one responsible for any keelhauling that should be necessary!) So if you have any questions, any suggestions, any offers to help (and we can always use help), please always feel free to contact any one of the three of us. NaNomail is fine, we'll all be checking in here as often as possible.

We do have some plans made already, and we'll be telling you more about them as October develops ... but for now, enjoy! Start to play around with some ideas, get to know your neighbours, enjoy your last few weeks of sanity -- literary abandon is almost upon us!
Begin again to Introduce Yourselves!!

Sadly, even the beautiful, interesting introductions to our AMAZING Toronto NaNofolk have been lost in the server crash -- so that just means you can start again! Make your lies even grander! ;)

F'real, this is the Introductions thread. Tell us a little about yourself. Who are you? What do you do? What did you mean by that? Are you trying to pick a fight with me? No, really -- I'll see you out back after school!

Whoa! Got a little out of hand there. Point is, this is the place to tell us as much, or as little, about yourself as possible. Names are always nice, as are pictures -- as one of the hardest things in this whole on-and-offline event (for me, at least) is putting the two together as I meet people. But tell us whatever you want!

I promise, I'll drop by soon and do this myself -- but don't wait for me, let's hear about you!
Toronto's NaNoWriMo CD: Song Deadline Extension!

Hi Everyone!

As many of you know, Errol, Ryan and I have been working on creating a CD of original music by Toronto NaNo'ers, for Toronto NaNo'ers, about NaNoWriMo and the creative process/writing in general. We hope that this will encourage and inspire copious amounts of novel writing, and will also act as a fundraiser to help support the events that we have all come to know and love during November.

We've gotten some great tracks so far, but there's plenty of room on the CD for more so we are extending the deadline for song submissions to Tuesday, October 14th! To participate, email your song(s) in high quality MP3 format to nanotorontomusic@gmail.com by October 14th, along with this signed and scanned form, or email us for more details.

Since several people have asked, we'd like to stress that recordings do not have to be of professional quality, so don't let that worry you. As well, you are free (and encouraged) to submit multiple songs.

We've really excited about the CD and are really looking forward to listening to more submissions!

What's Your Novel About?

Despite the server crash, and the possibility that the lost threads might magically reappear in the next few days, I'm going to start this one again:

What's *your* novel going to be about?

Do you have the germ of an idea? A vocal main character whispering in your ear, just waiting to be brought to the page so you can narrate her story? Have you been extensively plotting, planning and considering your novel for the past six months? Is your story going to be told in first person or third? Are there flying monkeys involved? (They really did knock my garbage can over two nights ago. I'm telling you, flying monkey footprints look almost uncannily like raccoon prints.)

Tell us all about your developing novel plans here!
Go Team Toronto!

I thought that the Toronto Region needed an introduction topic so here it is.

I'm Olivia, this is my first time doing NaNoWriMo and I'm quite excited. November seems so far but I know it will be here before you know it so my question is, how many of you plan your plot line in advance? I know some people start with a very basic idea and write until it becomes their plot. I've tried doing that but my problem is always that I come up with new ideas and am forced to go back and edit for it to make sense. What works best for you?

Just throwing this thread up again ... we're still working out the intricacies of the 2008 Toronto NaNo Calendar of Events -- so if there's something you'd like to see us do, or not do again -- or somewhere you'd like to see us go (or yes, not go) -- this is the time and the place to say so!
