this is incredibly inconvenient for me. I live way out by Boulder & Sunset and have already made arrangements to drag myself all the way up to Lake Mead and Rainbow for tuesdays, which I know I will enjoy because we had a blast last week. But I absolutely cannot afford the gas to do it twice a week, especially this next week, and certainly not all month long, and definitely not to sit around and watch other people type.

So until something happens on this side of town, I'm sending my regrets on thursdays, but tuesday at the B&N on Rainbow is set in stone.

btw, I had understood the kickoff would be at the B&N on Maryland and Flamingo on Nov 1 at 7 and was looking forward to it because that I can manage easily. I still plan to be at that location and whoever else shows up, let's do what we already arranged.

I was the one who had put together the one at the B&N at Maryland and Flamingo. But I'm not the ML. If people still want to show up for that one, I would be happy to still be there for it. Same with the following Thursdays. I'll only be doing those Thursday night write-ins if people want to be there for them. I, too, find the Rainbow location inconvenient, since I live right around the corner from the B&N on Maryland (which is why I was going to be there.)

Anyway, if people want to be there, let me know and I'll show up... otherwise, I'll probably just... write.

I won't be at the Kickoff party, sorry. I live in Green Valley, and I'm preparing for the GRE subject test this weekend. Hope you all have a great time.

I will probably schedule an outing at least once a week, and if anyone wants to hang out and write with me that would be cool. I'm not great at small talk, and I like to work. Just so ya know.

FOR EASTSIDERS/HENDERSONITES:

I prefer reJAVAnate. Why?

They are independent/locally owned.

They have free WiFi

They support local writers, poets, musicians, and artists.

They make delicious espresso

I don't work for them, nor am I related to any of the owners. I just like it, and I've lived here long enough to see several independent coffeehouses go belly-up.

I am penciling in Wednesdays, 7 ish. That means I'll be there 11/7 at 7. Easy, no?

This is uncomfortable, having two meetings scheduled at exactly the same time. I'm going to attend the one at B&N on Maryland because I have already committed to it a few weeks ago. Do we really need to choose which kick-off to attend? Oh, and I'm coming in costume. Anybody else? :)

This sounds great! Since I work on Sunset, about a block from Pecos, it'll be easy for me to get there by bus.

Also, I will try and attend the Maryland Pkwy B&N Kickoff, since that's not too bad a bus ride either.

You know, I was going to just cancel the one I was going to host at the B&N when Ceara announced the official one... but it seems that people don't want me to... what the heck do I do now? :P

Just to clairify. This is not a Kickoff party, or even an alternate meeting. I'm just letting you all know where I like to hang out. You're welcome to join me to write, or not.

I'm not even planning on being there until the Wednesday following. I'm sorry I'll miss the kickoff party, and I hope you all have a great time.

I think it's fine to have another location on Thursday. I understand if you live on the east side of Vegas that Rainbow is not convienent. I am not offended, as long as people are writing somewhere. I know it was last minute, but that is how it worked out. There is no reason to be hostile or sorry about meeting with other writers at any location.
I do think we should designate two days a week to meet. If people want to have an east side and west side location that is fine. If people want to plan and meet on alternate day other than two designated that's fine. It's all about getting the words on the screen/paper. I will be at the Panera every Thursday evening. I think ReJavaNate could be a good location for the weekend meeting. Is Saturday or Sunday better? I am leaning toward Sunday afternoon/evening, but I'm open to Saturdays if they are more convienent. Please reply either way and remember to be nice. This board should be a happy place. We don't need any bad karma. Thanks.

I think having multiple locations and days for get-togethers is an excellent idea since it allows more opportunities for people to attend. For me personally the Maryland and Flamingo location is the best for weeknight events, and ReJavaNate sounds like great fun for a Sunday afternoon!

To keep people from getting confused, perhaps one thread for each location would make it easier for people to find the details and RSVP for get-togethers they plan to attend?

Looking forward to a wild ride on the NaNoWriMo Express and hoping to meet lots of fellow travelers!

P.S. Also, this message is my official RSVP for Nov. 1st, 7:00pm, B&N on Maryland & Flamingo.

As a reward for writing no fewer than 1,667 words before sunset on Nov. 1st, I will drop by one or both of the scheduled kick-off events. If you don't see me, just assume I was kidnapped by my characters.

I'm going to try to get to B&N on Maryland like I'd already planned. I haven't been around much....started at Starbucks and will start at Venetian soon (YAY), but am hoping to attend meetings. I may have to just be a fly on the wall....still no laptop - going to get it fixed sometime soon hopefully! by mid Nov for sure right? ugghh. But I'll be writing on the home computer, and maybe doing handwriting at the meetings. :o) I'm a trooper, huh? ;o)

My question is why are we having two meetings right next to one another? The BN is literally right across the street.

Ceara, I didn't mean to sound snipey. :P Actually, I'll be honest, I doubt I'm going to get the 50K done this month... I'm gonna try, but between work for my company, work for work, and writing, I'm going to have next to no time with my fiancee... something's gonna have to give, and I can tell you right now that it's NOT going to be time with my fiancee! :)

Anyway, I'll start a post about the east side one so that we can avoid confusion.

Yeah, went to the B&N on Maryland. Hooray for Dana and I...the only two who showed up! :P

I'll still be attending the Tuesday meetings at the North end of town.

Three cheers to Ceara (Trish) for hosting our little kick-off at Panera on W. Lake Mead yesterday evening. I enjoyed meeting vivacious, intelligent, reader-turned-writer Coffee, the lyrical Dix and the new Mrs. Dix. Good to see Speedway Laurie again, too. And thank you again Ceara for the sticker.

I do not expect to be socializing much during the next 29 days, but I am hoping we get a huge turn out for our "It's Over" Party, whenever/wherever it occurs. Now, back to the unwritten page.

Sorry, jei_toh. I was planning on being there, but (ugh) I'm sick as a dog right now. I don't even know if I'm gonna go see my fiancee on my birthday tomorrow... although she promised me chicken soup, so...
