I have write ins planned at the West Wyandotte Library every Thursday evening in November except Thanksgiving. Almost all of the write ins will be in Conference Room A. Except November 8th, when it will be in the Auditorium.

There are a limited amount of outlets but you are welcome to bring food and drink if you so desire.

We'll start at 7 PM and end around 8:30 - 8:45.

This is for everyone.

The address is:

1737 N. 82nd St.
Kansas City, Kansas 66112

I hope this will fit into some of your schedules.

Oh, too bad I didn't know about this to announce at the KC metro kick-off yesterday. Someone even mentioned KCK.

And not just teens this year? Cool.

You might want to post this over at the metro write-in thread

Hrrmmm... It's a bit out of my way, but I will try to attend one of these. I don't think there are any closer write-ins around this area of Overland Park.

Yeah, no one has started one in Johnson County. I would have, but I'm focusing my attention on the centralized Midtown. (Brookside may not be too far away, depending on which end of the Overland Park stick you're on--I'm north, myself, so it's really easy to jump from SM Parkway over to 61st St. at Nall & take it on past State Line.)

Last year, I did have a midweek one at the Jo Co Central Library, but only ever had 1 other person show up; same for other ML's southern OP midweeks. For some reason around here, the Sunday evening write-in in midtown has always had the biggest turnout of people from both sides of the state line.

Myself, I'm going to try to get to each of the other write-ins at least once, in addition to my two, as long as things are going too crazy.

The local Fox news did an interview with us yesterday. The kids were really excited but they did great. I hope that people saw it and decide to do NaNoWriMo.

That's cool! I wish we'd all known so we could have watched, or better yet, have shown up. There are plenty of KC metro wrimos who would have given that a boost.

Glad to see so many events in the Kansas City metro area!

That was our thought too. If I had two days notice, I would have posted a more urgent invitation on the boards and called every kid I've ever known who likes to write. As it was, I had a nice turn out. 6 teens and me and another adult.

He called at 1 in the afternoon (preceded by a call from Chris Baty to make sure it was OK - my first celebrity!) and asked some opening questions to better pitch the story to the show. He wasn't sure he was doing the story until 2:30. By then, I couldn't get on the boards.

I told him about some of the monster prolific writers we have in the metro area. I want to say it's Mike O'Leary that's done 100,000 words every year he's done NaNo. He was really impressed by everyone's commitment.
