A guy who can't get outside the 'box', he likes a girl, childhood trama... see? predictable
Any advice?

As for predictable... what is your purpose in writing? are you trying to be groundbreaking and inventive, or are you trying to tell a really good story? Sometimes a well written predictable story is a better read than one that tries to be completely new. Character makes all the difference.

Ah, the cliches. I know them well; I'm the Queen of Cliches.
I say don't worry too much on it. You'll drive yourself insane trying to come up with something new when, honestly, everything's been done. Create characters who make the same old plot shine like new. That's the best advice I can give you.
