Let's get some writers together in this college town. There isn't enough creative writing here. Or if there is, it's hiding. Tell who you are.

Not so much, my friend! I am in Norman, attending OU, studying language arts education. I'm engaged, love movies, and make mixtapes for any and all occasions.

What do you think of having Norman meet-ups as a smaller subset of the OKC meet-ups?

I'm in Norman, too. I'm really surprised there aren't more of us here.

I am in Noble (just a hop, skip, and a jump away). I work on campus. I know that one of my student workers participates.

I'm in Lex, just a hop, skip, jump, and a flail away. I wouldn't mind meeting up with everyone in MY local area, and not OKC.

Looks like there are more Norman area writers finally showing up here!

I know that I can't really give you guys the attention you deserve and need. If I could possibly afford it, I'd love to put together meet-ups all over the state. I'd be at meet-ups every night of the week. Alas, my pocketbook couldn't survive the experience.

I mentioned it last year, and I'll do it again this year: if there's anyone in your area who's going to be here next year, apply to be the Norman, OK ML. We've got a Stillwater ML now, which is awesome beyond words. And I bet an active ML in Norman who could get around on campus and pull together and advertise meet-ups could put together one amazing experience in the area.

I'm also in Norman, also going to OU--working on my master's degree in library science. If people wanted to have some sort of informal get-together, I'd definitely be interested, though my schedule lately has been a bit crazy.

See? You aren't so alone after all. I never bring my lap top (my firewall doesn't like the open access); I typically email myself things as I think of them...however I lunch from 11:50 - 1:00 if anyone is on campus.

Ha! I'm funny. Here I start this thread, encourage everyone to say who they are--and then don't say who I am.

I'm new to Oklahoma. We moved to Norman this summer so my wife can attend OU--she's a grad student studying Astrophysics. I found work teaching Composition and Intro to Logic at OCCC. I got my MFA in Creative Writing at Minnesota State University, Mankato.

Okay, so that's me. Aside from all my quirks, irregularities, and idiosyncrasies.

I'm gratified to find more writers in the area. I'm open to meeting, whether it's informal or for a serious writing group. The schedule's likely to be hectic through the holidays (and end of semester grading), but I'll try.

Hey there. Another Normanite here! I'm a middle school librarian. I'm working on my PhD in English Education at OU so I'm on at least 3 evenings a week. Is someone planning a get together or something?

Alright, sure. Next Wednesday, 7 pm, the little cafe at Borders. (Unless someone else has another suggestion for a good place to meet). Any ideas for how to recognize each other?

Hang a sign on the table you're at. They've got several pre-made and a table tent. I can e-mail you the files if you'll nanomail me an e-mail address. I'm not sure there's a link to them through regular means anymore.

I live in Moore (well, part of the time), which is that nice little place smack dab in the middle of Oklahoma City and Norman. I am also addicted to the cafe in Borders (is it sad when the people in Borders RECOGNIZE you?), so I would be more than willing to help out in anyway I can!. Okay, so I technically don't LIVE in Norman. But hey, I love meeting new people!

Cool--kind of a mid-point check-in. We can all confirm we're half-done (or at least near it). Doesn't look like you'll have any problems, Belegwen.

I just joined today, but I also live in Norman. A friend of mine from England actually prompted me to join. I obviously have a lot of catching up to do! It's been a long time since I've attempted a novel, but I always write better with a deadline. I work full time, but due to my long hours, I only work four days a week. I plan on starting this evening (totally cheating right now by going online at work!).... now I just need to choose a plot. *g*

It looks that way now, but I know that later in the month will be problematic. I'll hit the slump in week two, same as everyone else--I did last year--and I'm going out of town to a family reunion sort of thing this weekend, which will majorly reduce my word count for several days then there's Thanksgiving, and the last week of November is heavy for school work. So I have to do as much as I can during the first week, to get enough ahead that those things won't matter as much.

Bwahaha, we're meeting at my workplace! That's so funny. I'll be there for an hour, maybe, if we start at 7, but I have Bible study at 8:30 and I drive 20 minutes to the setting. So I am super jazzed, and will see you guys at Borders! I'll remember to mention it to my boss next time I work, just to see if we can ensure a reserved table.

I may as well live in Norman, all the hours I work there.

Now, by Borders, do we mean the one across Main Street?

I'm also an OU student. I actually got turned onto this yesterday (Tuesday, Nov 6) by reading an article in the Oklahoma Daily. I'd meet up with you guys but I'm a copy editor at The Daily on Wednesdays til 10.

I signed up a few days ago, but can't start writing until tonight. I'm glad to see people from Norman pop up!

Added: Meant to say, post results. Been writing in nooks and crannies for the last few days. I know my word count should be 11,669 by end of day, but I'll take what I've got for now, and call it good. :-)

Would love to meet up somewhere. I live in Norman and work on the OU South Research campus, next to the national weather center.

Cheers

Alright, has everyone in Norman up and died, or what?!

We still meeting up Wednesday next, or has everyone gone and drownded themselves in Lake Dirtybird in silly fits of angsty despair? Enquiring minds wanna know, and we ought to fix this thing down.

Keep scribbling, says me, who is very sick. I wrote one word today, but I did write one word!

Bright blessings to all!

Cheers, N

Sorry for the silence. I was at a family reunion all weekend. Luckily I only missed one day of writing (yesterday when I woke up at five thirty in the morning, was in the car all day, and then had to go to class).

The plan is still to meet tomorrow at seven o'clock at Borders. I'll write NANO on a sheet of paper in marker and put it on the table, where I'm sitting. My husband will be with me. He isn't participating in NaNo, but he's also a writer. He just can't stand not editing as he goes along (perfectionist). I look forward to meeting all of you.

I was going to the meet on Saturday, but forgot that my car is still operating on daylight savings time. I was there, only an hour early...and left in confusion (not an unusual state for me, but that's another...)

My name is Lynn, by the way, and though not a native Normanite, its the place where I return from my adventures.

So, if there's a meeting tomorrow, I'll show up. Just let me know.

So, I was actually sitting RIGHT across from you guys today earlier :D I saw the little sign that said "NaNo" and about had a heart attack. If I actually talked to you, ignore this message. If I didn't get the guts, then hello from across the room!

Well, I'm sorry you didn't come and join us, but I know how scary it can be to approach new people for the first time.

Do we want to try for another meeting in Norman some other time that's better for other people? Though I expect next week is bad for a lot of people, what with the holiday.

Any ideas?

Well, more than likely you heard us :D I'm with my roommate, and this guy that we were meeting there. I'm usually part of the OKC NaNo writers, but we were in Norman. . and I squealed when I saw the sign ^_^

But I'm terribly shy.
