I read a bit of Korean(been studying it for a little over 8 months now), though I'm far from writing anything in Korean. Funny thing, though, but the story I'm working on was inspired by a sentence I had read in Korean, so I guess there's some Korean influence in my story. =)

Oh really? What was the sentance? =)

Two years ago my NaNo story was heavily influenced by Korean fairy tales, specifically the 구미호 (nine-tailed fox woman) stories. It was set in Seoul, so there were snip-its of Korean here and there. But, my Korean is very elementary, so I can't even really read a whole kid's book without hitting the dictionary a few dozen times.

XD Korean is a very, very difficult language unfortunately.

우리는 기차에서 차음 만났아요/uri-neun ki-cha-e-seo cha-eum man-nass-a-yo
Translation: We met for the first time on a train.
Pretty simple, oi, but random things like that tend to inspire me. =)

Oh, same here! I often get my inspirations from children's stories... sometimes one sentance from there will be like OMG I GOT IT.
Anyway. Do you intend to share your story? =)

Hahaha, of course; no point in keeping a story to yourself, right? I'll probably be putting it up on my website, once I go through and redo the layout. Since the story I'm working on now was a story idea I've been bouncing around in my head for a couple months but never got around to working on, I'm hoping to actually get somewhere with it.
Besides, Fiona's gotten ahead of me by being the first published between the two of us; I gotta catch up soon. ;)

Well, while you're messing around with your site in the meantime, why not post it on my forum as well?

I only post up complete works, sorry. ^_^ Though I'd be more than glad to post it all up when it's done, or perhaps teasers while I'm working on it.
Except coming to see me. ;) I can at least take credit for that one. =P
And besides...I think I remember quite a few co-opt writing projects where I still have the last post on them...;)

I only post complete works... if it's a short story or something I'm holding back because I want it published and paid for xD But I have two stories that I update regularly. You should try that, especially if you have your own site, it's fun.~.o';
Okay, I would like to see it =)

I can read and write Korean but my vocabulary would hold me back from writing a full novel in Korean. Now Japanese is another story ^_~

I think the sentence you want is: 우리는 기차에서 처음 만났어요 (corrections in bold). :-)
(And yes, I read and write Korean. Which is a good thing, otherwise I'd probably have a pretty hard time with my dissertation.)

....Y'know, sometimes having the vowels next to each other is really convenient. Others...it's damn annoying. Mainly when it comes to typos.
