Post the music that is inspiring your novel (if any)...
And if you really want to take it one step further, than post character themes and perhaps a main theme song to the whole novel.

I've been starting each writing session by blasting "Edison's Medicine" by Tesla because my main character is named Nikola because his father was a fan of Tesla. Not sure if that is what you were asking for here.

I've been listening to a lot of music in different languages and from different cultures. I feel like it sets up my imagination to fly.

I've got some rather eclectic music going on as well. A lot of Six AM (that isn't how you spell it, but that's the easiest way to write it :D), Three Day's Grace, Disturbed. I don't listen to classical music to write (although I probably should because every time I hear a song I know, I sing along) for now. It's just amusing to stop paying attention to my novel.

Right now I'm working my way through the "Across the Universe" soundtrack, which is a bunch of really wonderful Beatles' covers, and I'm working on the 1994 stage cast of "Hello, Dolly".
Other than that, it goes all over the place.

Mine's going to have to be a medly of tunes from different genre's. There are lots of small fantasies that take on 'themes' from western cow town to romantic seaside settings.
I'm not sure what to play during the steamy lust fantasies.

I am completely unable to write if I'm listening to anything that has words in it. It distracts me and I can't think, even if I'm writing something as mindless as an e-mail. Mainly, I listen to Gackt's "Story" over and over and over. *shrug* It works.

I've listened to Bach's Toccata in D Minor, some Evanescence and Blue October so far. But I really need more creepy/terrifying music to inspire me. If anyone has suggestions, I'd be much obliged!

My favorite music to write to is progressive rock. Well, that's my favorite genre of music, period. The one CD that always gets my creative juices flowing is "The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway" by Genesis. It's an epic prog rock story that has so many cool sounds and awesome imagery.
Some bands that work well for me as writing music: Genesis (with Peter Gabriel!), King Crimson, Rush, Pink Floyd, Yes, Flower Kings, Moody Blues.
Of course, none of these have anything to do with the subject matter of my novel. I haven't heard any songs about aye-ayes (or giant squid). I don't know if any exist. But I do have some songs I made up for my novel! There, I can take credit for the first aye-aye song.

I've been listening to my master playlist, that has some odd quirks to it when I write.
Like if I borrow a name for a character from a game, and I have that game sountrack on my computer, that theme has played when the character makes a first entrance.

Right now, it's Savage Garden's first CD. I also have been listening to L'Arc~en~Ciel's "Awake". It's less of a soundtrack and more of a "oh hey, I wanna listen to this" thing, but it's nice nonetheless.
Yeah, ish boring, I know. But there you go.

Very eclectic.
Complete soundtracks for The Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers, various Celtic. Some Evanescence, and Bonnie Raitt. I'm thinking of borrowing Carlos Nakai flute music for the pieces set in Red Rock Country. Since some of the book is supposed to be ***humorous***, I could use something light for that too.
