Yeah, we are going into week 2 and I am already screaming these out throwing things across the room just to see how far it actually goes because I have three papers due, one sick person to attend to, three test, a trip, to clean my room, and on top of that write 350K I have lost it...severally I have lost it.
Last night I had a huge mental breakdown and you know what's sad my roommate laughed during it. She thought it was funny and she just woke up laughing at it again...I am tired.
I went to bed at such and such time and only got two hours of sleep. But that's what it's been like for the past week. No sleep...

Characters take on life sometimes by luck, but I suspect it is when you can write more entirely out of yourself, inside the skin, heart, mind, and soul of a person who is not yourself, that a character becomes in his own right another human being on the p

Hey, dw!
You need to keep breathing, woman! The month has just started.
I know you are determined to make your goal. But we don't want you to kill yourself making it happen. You need to sleep just a bit more. You need to stay healthy. You need to take some time for yourself--do something fun, even for a short time. Pamper yourself. You've taken on an enormous amount this year.
It won't be worth it if you burn yourself out from both ends. Keep perspective, and ask yourself what you're going to be able to handle in the long run.
Meanwhile, I'll try to distract delayra. (Not that I think it'll work--pray she gets a job from an interview this Tuesday to slower her down...).
Yes, it's great to challenge yourself. Just do what you can, then push just a bit farther. A bit farther. Don't go off the edge. Okay?
We want to see you at write-in during Thanksgiving break if you're coming into town...

I'll try to make it to a writin for thanksgiving. I will actually be in Olathe this year, but who knows which one I'll go to. I might head down to the lawerence crew or I might hang out with you guys, or I might do both. Haven't decided. I do know that after I turned in a paper today I realized, "Hey Kendra, why don't you have one of your characters write the paper." Tada...thus 2,000 words. Let's hope my paper was good for class.
Tonight my characters will help me write a short story of how remove a dead horse on Christmas Eve. It's going to be interesting...any ideas.
I have heard to have it blown up...but not sure. Here's the plot that my creative writing teacher gave me.
It is your neighbor's daughter's horse. The neighbor has asked the character(s) to remove the horse tonight so the daughter will not have to wake up on Christmas to find it dead.
Resolve the physical problem: what equipment do they ahve and what are they going to do with the animal?
Any ideas, it has to be realistic a bit. That's kind of hard to do when you are doing nanowrimo. I was going to have squirrels sent out to eat all the mean then all you have to do is remove or bury the bones. But not sure if she would like that.

Hey, girl. Think of it like this: The papers you have to write for class should be deducted from your goal if your goal is over 50K... that's only fair. You're writing, after all, it's just in a different direction. You have to let yourself breathe, eat... sleep! I make the joke that I don't sleep, but that's due to a medical condition. Don't try to keep up with my lack of sleep. My sleep cycle is only 22 minutes long, most folks' is 90±7 minutes, and people need 5 of these cycles per night to remain healthy. I'm WAAAAY under the average, so I don't need as much sleep. I'm getting just as much rest, just faster. Do NOT push yourself just to beat me, or I'll stop posting updated word counts. Please. I don't want you to inadvertently hurt yourself doing this.
Breathe. Breathe. Breathe.
Part of the purpose of NaNoWriMo is to set goals, yes. These need to be goals that are realistic and take into account the other stresses and responsibilities in our lives. I've already told several people that once I begin work and realize how much less time I have to write, I'll likely adjust my goal down to balance and compensate. You need to do the same thing, joshi, or you'll hurt yourself. NONE of us want that.

I am fine now...I have relaxed a lot. And things are going much smoother. I am moving out of my dorm room into another next semister so that will be relaxing thankfully. One of my friends is taking me to her house this weekend where I can get a lot of words down and she encourges me. So I'll be okay...things are looking up.

Nothing like a good occasional meltdown to get rid of the dross.
I've been going through one about every three days since mid-October, myself. yeep!
Glad to hear you're doing better.
Keep writing!

Use your melt-down in your 350K! Nothing like incorporating your NaNoWriMo life (which at least in my case is way more exciting than my normal life) in the novel. I'm probably not going to attempt 350K for years yet, I need to reach the normal goal first. Have fun!

Okay today I am joining you. I want to die myself. I only had 5,000 words wrote but they were 5,000 words that I liked. It took me a few days to get warmed up so the whole thing really only started flowing today. Then in a second they were gone. I have somehow managed to erase the whole file. Right now I should be starting over but instead I am taking a few minutes to wallow in self pity.

OH NO!
dw I am glad that you are relaxing a bit more! Don't push yourself so hard that you lose track of the FUN!
And grapevyne, my heart goes out to you....I hope that you get back in the flow quickly and don't let your setback ruin your month or your story.
I spent yesterday at an all day "editing and proofreading" workshop for work, so I didn't let myself write last night at all. I think I have my internal editor back under control though now.
may your fingers fly and your characters misbehave!!

I haven't been much on nanowrimo. My friends have told me that my failure in my classes is because Nanowrimo is corrupting my life and I need to stop writing in any novel. Then finally said I could when I have had four mental breakdowns...they don't like an upset Kendra. lol.
So here I am...
Plus, I just proved to myself that I can do good on a test. C- woot.

Lysistrata, thanks for the encouragement. After that last post I allowed myself a few more hours of self pity, then I sat down and typed out 1,000 words before bed. It has been slow going with the many family and job commitments that are stealing my writing time but I am still moving forward everyday.
I am glad to see so many of you close to your goals. It is giving me a push to keep going.

I am sitting here sitting at my desk banging my head on my desk. Want to join in. Omg, it seems like I totally forgot about homework over thanksgiving break. I still don't understand why teachers decide to give me 3 papers, 1 script, 2 reading guides, 1 mini lesson, 8 short stories to read and critque. They gave me all that for thanksgiving break, are they cruel or what.
Not only that but now my muse decided...hmm...lets scrap all the other stories and start a brand new one...how I hate thy muse. So here I am writing another gasp story.
I also have to study for finals which is like right around the corner. It seems like life is out to get me...can it be December 14th yet so I can be done for a month. pretty please....
Oh well back to writing while I have no homework to do...since I stayed up all night long to do homework...and watch a movie, and write a bit. lol.
but then again I am at 43K
