Hey All,
I was wondering if any of you were planning on having a "THANK GOD IT'S OVER!" party? I would really like to plan one out, and I don't know about you all but I have to request off of work about 2 weeks in advance. I'm thinking Saturday, December 1st would be good.

Of course we are going to have a TGIO party- what would NaNo be without one??
MangyCat also suggested the 1st and I think that is a good date. So for all of you wanting to make sure you can come- put that date on the calendar. I'm guessing we will do something in the evening hours. And I'm sure we will do something with food, something that has to do with reading excerpts from our novels and maybe even the chance of prizes!!
So keep that date in mind and let us (your ML's, MangyCat, ihatepeas and myself) know what you might like to do and WHERE you might like to do it. We need a space that can hold 20-40 people at least- maybe more!!

Yes, please post your ideas for a locale in this thread. What about the East Library? How about one of the places we've had a write-in? Maybe a room in your church? Ideas! Ideas! We're open because we still have time to plan.
And would you prefer we have a meal together? Potluck? Dinner out? Or just get together and have snacks on hand?
Will we, as is tradition, read excerpts from our novels at the party?

My only request for the TGIO Party is that people who are 17 years old and go to Rampart are able to go without being accompanied by an adult. I've missed out on the last three because of this :(

We will keep that in mind- I have no problem keeping it open to those 16 and up (I figure if you can drive then you should be able to come). I think we have limited it in the past because we were in a private home. So if we go with a more public location that shouldn't be an issue :).
Mangy- was that a question, of course we want to read something!!

This sounds great! lol
hmm...how about Panera breads? You can rent a "business room" i guess they call it. That would work, wouldnt it?
Because i dont think we could really do it at a library...they dont allow food...well i suppose they would if we rented it =P

I like the idea of a Panera, but some folks are tired of Panera. Also, Panera can get expensive after a month. Don't get me wrong; Panera is my guilty secret. I wait all year for the write ins and the bread and coffee. So, keep in mind that another option is someone's house. We've done it at Laurie's house (only in november) and my house (kelly felix), and it worked out really well on both occasions. At my house we probably have enough room for 20-25 comfortably and 30-40 if we really squeeze and spread into two rooms. The big advantage of having it at someone's house is that you can pot luck and get lots of different goodies for a relatively low price: the price of your gas and whatever it is that you brought. I officially offer up my home for the evening, knowing that Fountain may seem a little too far away, and that the younger crowd may not be able to attend (although I have no objection to a parent accompanying them). I'm game and the 1st sounds good to me. Just say where and when. Oh, and can spouses come too? Or is it just NaNo-ers?

Spouses are welcome :)
Okay, after talking it over with Mangy and ihatepeas, we have decided to host the TGIO party in a location where we have lots of room and can pot luck.
I'm going to start a clean thread and sticky it for the party info!!
