Yes. I need one of these in my region forum, where I can whine and commiserate in the e-company of my fellow mooselings.
So! Yesterday was the first day I didn't write at all. And I would feel awful about it, but I know the weekend is pretty much here, which means I can certainly recover! I'm not even close to giving up, but I'm not-so-much in love with my story and hitting that 10k mark seems daunting still even though it's so close.
I over planned this year (a fact I was bemoaning to Cat last night!) and that was the risk I took with attempting a romance novel since you have to know the Happily-Ever-After. I am unwilling to veer from my plot of action, which is making me more and more nervous about getting stuck. Which means I have stuck myself, because I'm nervous about being stuck. LOL!
Earlier this week I started a back-up novel, one that involves two characters in an interesting situation. It's urban fantasy, something I'm very familiar with writing. I have 3k on that story so far, and because it's pretty much open ended I feel way more free to throw in plot-ninjas if it hits a slow spot. When I get bored on my main novel I switch to the back-up for a while, so that at least I'm writing something (yesterday was an exception though, just was too busy).
SO ANYWAY! Now that you know my writerly issues, tell me yours! And most importantly? Don't give up! Keep writing. We are mooselings, we are awesome, and we can do this! :D

Yay a place to bemoan and woe....:D. Excellent idea, Vi.
I have done my fair share of whining last night to Vi. I have a limited amount of people to talk to about my potential novel in the works and thus far I have received the following comment: "Wow, that's deep". I'm usually thinking "It is?" Of course, the premise of the story was something I found in my "little black book" or for those who actually know it to be as Moleskine.
This novel that I am working on, and still wrestling with as to whether or not I want to continue with it, is heavily involving the religious theme. I don't know why but that's how it is. I'm fairly certain someone would find it blasphemous...but I could be wrong. Oddly, my other novel would also involve the religious theme.
I don't quite know how to classify either--I figured them to be of the Fantasy genre but then...I don't know maybe not. It could very well just be classified as Religious, but being that I'm not heavily religious myself I think i would do the genre a disservice.
I wish to write further about both novels but both maybe too much to write in forum and far easier to talk about in person.
I don' t know...what do you guys think?

I would definitely call your stories fantasy. The religious genre is usually reserved for people inspiring readers spiritually with religious themes. If I'm not mistaken, which if I am, somebody correct me por favor :)
I'm glad I'm not the only one to keep an idea book (I call mine the brainstorming book!).
Tomorrow at the write-in, when we've got the social hour going, you can feel free to talk more about your nano novel to me! Maybe I won't be feeling so jaded once I'm around my nano buddies again and I can actually come up with something helpful for you ;)
I was dumb this morning and forgot my thumbdrive, so I don't have anything to work on this morning writing wise :O ...er... should be work-working anyway. *cough!*

I have re-read what I have had. Ok, I wasn't really re-reading it. I was typing up the handwritten stuff and discovered some stuff that I didn't recall writing.
I have a Seer in my story and in it, he says "the child will mature rapidly, we must get to the child before it tries to bear children."
The child that is mentioned is marked. But what kind of mark I have no idea. My other character has no navel--therein not truly being born of the world. The other character was birthed to a dead woman however, she does bear a mark. It could be either or...bah.

Woes! An excellent thread. Because it's much easier to complain in fellow company than to post to thousands of people I' don't know. *sheepish*
I keep an idea word doc going (not really a book, but still!) too, Xan. I LOVE it. The only problem is, I get hyped reading it and want to start on everything.
My main problem right now is that I'm losing interest. I was trying a different genre each year, and this year is Lit Fiction, which is interesting, but it's actually a collection of short stories (yea yea, I know, technically against the rules, but I did really want to do it and finish it, mainly because the stories derive from true stories my grandmother has told me). I guess I'm getting really bored with it because last year my NaNo was a youth fiction and each chapter was a different story/pov from a different character. I got insanely bored with it and trashed the entire thing after NaNo. I really want to work on something else. My idea of writing two novels at once totally crashed and burned, between work and the new house. I don't know if I want to alternate writing one and then the other, because that technically doesn't count as word count, I don't think.
ARG, the Frustration. *sigh*

Violet, as far as I know you are correct about the genre but it's usually called Christian or Inspirational. The word religion seems to have negative connotations these days.
There are a lot of mainstream and other genre novels that touch on religious themes but aren't considered Inspirational.
Hope you find your story, Cat. I'm still searching for mine.

And I think I just overdid it on the caffeine yesterday... I feel awful today o__o And I'm playing single-mom since Shawn's had to switch back to a different work schedule and he's working today. I'm trying to take advantage of my daughter's nap time, but it's not going well. Hard to concentrate when you feel like crud!
Anyway, I really would like to write at least 2k on both my stories today. Hope you guys are having a more productive weekend :)

YAY I got my word goals for the day!
Hit 15k on A Prince's Ransom and 10k on The Demon Catharsis. :D
I FEEL AWESOME!! And really tired. And ... I so have LOADS more I want to write on both tonight, but I need my sleep.
I've set kinda weird goals for myself this week in an effort to get myself caught up on both. I would ultimately like to hit 25k on both before I go to sleep Saturday. That will still leave me slightly behind, but then I can worry about making up the 3k deficit over calendar week 3. It seems to work out in my head!
If you're behind, what're your word goals for this week? Got any rewards for yourself when you reach those goals?
Keep writing guys!! :D

ARG, I've hit a night where I simply don't. want. to write.
Maybe it had something to do with having a farewell dinner after work for a coworker who's moving up the ladder of success, or spending two hours after that washing dishes and things I've collected for years for the day I finally bought a house (my GOD, how does someone collect so much pyrex between the ages of sixteen and twenty-five?? did I seriously have NO LIFE?? *thud*)
But it's made my back hurt, my feet hurt, and now I just want to web design tonight instead of writing, and I'm on track with word count and with the open house coming up I'm concerned I'll seriously fall behind and won't catch up if I take the night off from NaNo. ARRRRRRRGGGGG, the dilemma of the NaNo writer.

Maybe write just ... ten words? As in one or two sentences? That way at least you'll have put something down for the night :)
Hope tomorrow's more fun and writer-brain oriented for you!

This is my third novel, but the first time this has happened.

It happens, Pam, and it's no fun. :/ I ran into some spots where I lost love for my novel last year, and I'm having issues with keeping up the love for my pirate story this year. But you can slog through it! I'm sure you'll get some kind of plot bunny to nibble at what you already have written :D
And I'm challenging myself to a craaaaazy challenge this weekend! Starting now I plan to write 20k before I go to sleep on Sunday night.
Anyone else have a weekend wordcount goal to help them get caught up?

I did a great job (I think) and wrote 5k words yesterday. Today though? Can't seem to get my will to write to wake up. I've written a couple hundred, but I feel kinda stalled on both stories. I'm annoyed and have no one around to whine to! Figures huh?
I tried to play a game for thirty minutes to get my mind off of writing for a bit, and now I'm thinking I ought to do some chores and come back to the computer. *sigh!*
Maybe I fried my brain yesterday? :X

Okay, I have to whine a little. I want to cry when I think about my word count; I am SO way behind! Thank goodness for Thanksgiving and my family who are all pitching in for dinner. Yay!
I have a light schedule at least until Tuesday so I should get caught up. My outrageous goal I have set for myself is at least 3,200 words per day, that should do. Hopefully. Don't worry, I will NOT be up at 11:55 with 500 words to go like last year!
Congratulations to all of you who have won so far and for those of you on schedule, you guys rock! For those of us who need a little more motivation like me; WE CAN DO IT!

We're in about the same boat, Meannah! And I've changed my game plan a little. I really want to win legitimately (meaning one story of at least 50k) more than I want 100k, so I'm buckling down for the Thanksgiving break and working on my pirate novel exclusively. I'm planning to write at least 3k a day too!

When I was over 5k behind, I did some math, and planned out that I could write 500 words per hour every hour whenever I got home from work, and tend to the rest of my life in whatever time I had left in the hour. Well, I learned that I could write 500 words in about 25 minutes when I really had the flow of the story, and soon the rest of my life didn't need much tending, so I upped it to 800 words an hour. I was up to speed again in three days. And that is how I am approaching the monumental task of Staying On Schedule - 800 words at a time.
----------Best of luck to everyone, we can DO this! Woo!

I've done some calculations of how many words a day I need to do to finish on time and have that as my word goal instead of the regular 1,667. So that's my method I guess :)
And... WOOHOO!!!!! I hit 30k!!!! *hands out exclamation points!!!*
Since I don't count it being the next day until I sleep, I'm currently only arond 6k behind! SUCH an improvement from the 10k I was behind earlier this week!
