That's it. I'm back where I'm supposed to be. Before Nov 1st, I had this crazy idea of writing a novel without sex in it. I know, a stretch for me. One week and 8k in, I hated my novel, my characters, my plot... Well, you get the picture.

Saturday, the 10th, I got up early. Slammed down a synopsis for a new gay erotic romance then started writing. The hell with the 8k on the other story. As of last night, I exceeded 15k for the weekend. I might not make the 50k but I'll have written something I love and can most likely sell.

*holds hand over heart* I solemnly swear to stay in my element and not try to write non-erotic.

*breathes huge sigh of relief*

Well, even if a story isn't erotica, what's wrong with having a few erotic scenes? :)

I was writing something as a submission to a specific mainstream publisher. The guidelines for that imprint is no erotic scenes, barely any romance. Now I'm writing something for submission to Ellora's Cave. I can have all the sex I want in this story!

*sigh* And I'm done... I finished on the 24th around 11:30 PM. Waited up until after midnight on the 25th and did the "official" word count thingy. Now back to the short story I started before NaNo that's due by 12/15. Then to edits for the short novella I finished before NaNo. Then to edits on the NaNo novel.

Hmmm, December is beginning to look as busy as November...

*waves from a fellow Ellora's Cave homoerotica author,* (hee, saying that hasn't gotten old yet, just signed with them this month!)I did something similar this year, not tried to write non-erotic but scrapped about 6500 words on day three and started over. Finished on the...18th I believe it was. Sunday before Thanksgiving, at any rate lol.

I'll also have you know I've been eyeing Hidden Force with greedy eyes and think I might have to make it part of my NaNo reward package this year. I'm awful glad you're sticking with us in the glorious smut! :)

LOL It never gets old for me either! I love EC! Welcome to the Cave!

I have a friend who write Harlequin Intrigues and she's been after me to write one. Only problem is they don't want any explicit sex. They want very little romance! I decided I'd try one but it just wasn't happening. I guess if I want to write for Harlequin, I'll have buckle down and tackle Spice's heavy word count!

Congrats on finishing so fast!

*grins* I'm tickled to be considered a reward! Thanks! And hugs!

Okay, so self-edits are done on my NaNo novel and it's off to one of my crit partners. The other CP is AWOL at the moment. The nerve of her to take a vacation when I need her!! Anyway, with a little luck, I'll get the manuscript submitted by the end of the year.

Now, I have to pick the next story to work on. So many voices, so little time...

LOL I know the feeling Shayla! So many damn ideas and not enough hours in the day! I'm nearly done with my self-edits for my Nano as well, hoping to have it off to my editor by early January at the latest. Good luck, I can't wait to see what goodies you've cooked up this time!

Good luck with your submission! I haven't subbed anything in a while. Kept getting distracted. NaNo helped put me back on track, thank goodness!

So I subbed my NaNo novel, Past Lies, to Ellora's Cave the end of December. Last night, I got home from the dratted day job to find an offer from my editor in my email!

*insert Snoopy dance here*

I have two more close to ready to submit. Waiting on one of my crit partners for her final notes on a short novella and I have one I need to do a final last self-edit on before sending to my CPs.

2008 is looking up!

Well, Past Lies has a gorgeous cover and an ebook release date of April 9th! *insert Snoopy dance* It was May 28th but my publisher had an opening on April 9th and since I'd finished edits and had a cover, Past Lies was moved up.

Check out the gorgeous cover on my website-- www.shaylakersten.com.

A novel without sex can be great, but I was actually thinking about writing a book on sex in escorts resorts ( erotic adult vacations ) that seem to be the trend lately. I wonder if a writer would be interested in a good insider source for co-writing a book on an unexplored subject so rich and full of intrigues. Places like the Hedos, Charlisangels, ect. can really bring light to the world about the women from Europe who work as escorts in the various sex resorts that offer their services to a very exclusive clientele. If you are a serious writer looking for a great opportunity, contact me and I`ll be glad to talk about it.

Interesting idea. I'm using a gay resort as a back drop for a short story. However, I don't have time to work on something new. My writing schedule is full for at least the next six months. Good luck finding a co-writer!
