Hi. I'm uberly behind. like at least four days worth. I have school off tomorrow, so i'll try to work on it then. But is anyone else in school? Cause with homework and not being able to do all nighters, i can get behind really easily.
IF anyone has some tips to help me catch up, please let me know!!!
Thankies

I've been writing every day and keeping up with the deadline of 1667 words a day except yesturday and today so i'm a little behind. I've had school Tests and quizes and so on the days i have class and work i'm kinda exhausted but hopefully i'll get caught up tomorrow cause i have no school and no work.
The way i need to be able to catch up is to just sit and write. I'm a little stuck in my plot right now so i have to get it going again. So since you are behind it might be easier to catch up if you get really interested in your story. that helps me. Try spicing up your novel or adding more conflict and just have fun with it.
Good luck and happy noveling!

Yea, I'm a little behind, but I work better under pressure anyway...just like I work better with a deadline. You know? I'm in school and I went to North Carolina last weekend which is really why I am behind, but I'll catch up this weekend (hopefully).Really, if you write every day like you are supposed to it really isn't that hard. Think about what you want to write say as you are walking from class to class, or in the car, or in the shower. Have any idea of that little piece in your head, and then when you sit down that night to write it, it shouldn't take that long to write the 1667 words. To catch up though, I'd say just put yourself in a place where there is no noise except maybe music if you like to listen to it when you write (i have to put on my headphones to block out all the other stuff going on in my house). Make sure there isn't anything else open on your computer like the internet, email, or like in my case AIM. Then set yourself small goals. Say, "I'm going to write for twenty minutes nonstop." Then do it. Don't let your fingers quit moving. You can set a timer if you like to keep yourself from checking the clock. Stop. Get up. Go take a bathroom break or get something to drink or whatever. Give yourself no more than fifteen minutes. Do it again. If you find yourself on a roll when your timer goes off though, you can keep writing until that roll slows down. Don't feel like you have to stop. Figure out times that work for you. Maybe you prefer writing for fifteen minutes and taking ten minute breaks. Or maybe you prefer to write longer or whatever. You can do it. You can catch up.
Another idea that is pretty cool is that I have a writing buddy that I really enjoy messaging and she suggested that we don't message each other until we've written another 2,000 words. It's actually been working really well for me.
Good luck! You can do this. I know you can. Keep it up.

What helps me is when I'm in bed and cant sleep, I think about my characters and plot and plan out everything in my head what to write the next day. I'll have complete scenes, dialoges, action planned out. And sometimes when I do that, I'll actually dream about my story and that can help you, especially if you're stuck in a scene. Somethimes I'll lay in bed thinking about the next scene and have to get up and write it down (scribble- I have a notebook beside my bed). By the time you write it the next day, it may change somewhat, but the main premise is still there. The biggest thing is to let the story tell itself. If you tell the story where it's going to go, it will stop coming to you. A book is alive. It has to be allowed to tell itself. If you let yourself go, the story will flow much easier.

As you can see in my profile, I'm terribly behind since I sorta just started. I have written more, just haven't updated yet. Right now, I'm at such a terrible writer's block and getting another idea for this writing contest. I'm thinking of ditching the old idea, and going with the other one. It's an idea I've been playing around with for years now; late 90s. I think I will go with that one. At least I have more ideas with that one, and can probably keep going with it.

I'm REALLY behind, but I am working on it now, my plan is to do 4k words a day, no matter what. Even if it is just locking myself in a closet with a notebook and 10 pencils or get a computer into a car lol.
