I have a quartet of characters leaving a wake in a house in Darlington (somewhere close to Coast2Coast), and I want them to end up in a pub. I've had little experience of the pubs in Darlington (I've been in The George, The Golden Cock, The Black Swan, and The Half Moon - possibly more, I would have been half cut at the time), but I wondered which would be the best of those to go to in that sort of situation. Other pubs will do - I'll probably go and check them out before the end of the month, and if a WriMo is in the pub at the time (afternoons only) I'll buy them a pint. :) You'll know who I am, because I'll have all the kids and blokey of mine with me.

I can recommend the Quaker. It's a tiny little place that sells loadsa real ale and plays nothing but cheesy hair rock. Me and a couple of friends had a very succssful wake there and and got seriously smashed off our tits. Oh yeah, and it's haunted.

The Quaker is haunted?? never knew that. I have got spectacularly drunk in there and fallen down the stairs from the loo and ended up with embarrassing booze bruises that made it look like I'd been spanked hard.....

Tanners is always fun for a funeral, I'm sure. Cheap, chavvy and cheerful, just like the rest of the town! And I'm biased cos I worked there far too long.
