Last night, after I threw myself across the 50K goal line at Unlimited Coffee (followed by a celebratory gelato), I had an odd experience. I got into my car to head home, and suddenly I'm hearing a voice from my past. A real voice from my past. It was my college creative writing professor, whom I hadn't seen in 20 years and who lives 2300 miles away.
As it turns out, Dr. Coleman Barks, my former professor and also a world renowned authority on Sufi poetry, was reading a selection from his newest book on poems from Rumi, which he translated. To hear his gravelly, Tennessean drawl just moments after reaching my goal was one of the most bizarre experiences of my life. It felt as if the Universe was giving me a high-five. It gave me goosebumps!
Peace out,
Dharmashanti

Oh, I forgot to mention, that the reason I heard him was because he was on NPR's program "The World". No, I'm not just hearing voices. Okay, I hear voices, but his wasn't one of them.
Peace out!
