Movie: Green card.

Situation - the man and woman have always been at odds with each other, with the woman being most antagonistic towards the male. They are then separated by circumstances, and the woman realizes she'll most likely never see this man again. He posts her a message telling her where she might meet him, before he is deported to France. She is drawn to that cafe. She sees him through the window. Her eyes light up as their eyes meet. They run to meet each other and their embrace and their kiss - wow! It makes me cry even now, it's so sweet and passionate and full of love and promise ....

My favorite romantic movie of all time is A Walk in the Clouds. Totally dumb plot and lots of over-acting characters but it is filmed beautifully and the kissing scenes are overwhelmingly magical. And of course it has a happy ending!!

I have two favorites:

Purple Hearts with Cherly Ladd and Ken Wahl, scene takes place while he's trying to treat her for a gun shot wound. He's an Army doctor and she's an Army nurse.

A Walk to Remember with Mandy Moore

Titanic. Deffo.

I love Jack and Rose's first kiss, when Rose realises that she doesn't love Cal and that she loves Jack, despite only knowing him for a few days. It's so sweet and lovely and I just love it to pieces. *squee*

Hands-down, Elizabeth Gaskell's North & South. Daniela Denby-Ashe and Richard Armitage (Guy of Grisborne in the BBC's new Robin Hood) are perfect in their roles. Armitage's character is an intense, sometimes volatile man, who rarely examines his emotions closely. Denby-Ashe is rather the opposite, though she has the same spark of passion in her. It starts out as a rather typical they-hate-each-other story, but he falls quickly and hopelessly in love, and she dislikes him immediately; part of the plot is her slowly thawing towards him. The kiss isn't until the very end (of a four-hour miniseries!) and it's so sweet and gentle and gorgeous. OOOO I get all smiley just thinking about it.

I really like the kiss scene in "The Fountain". Ooh, it was nice. :P It's also a really good movie, which I urge everyone to watch!

The most adorable kiss scene I've seen lately was from Pushing Daisies... which is actually a TV show. Does that count? Anyway... Basically, he touches dead things and they come back to life, but if he touches them again, they die again--forever! So... he finds out his childhood sweetheart has been murdered, and he touches her, but doesn't want to touch her again (if he doesn't touch the un-dead thing within a minute, something else dies in its place) so... they never touch. Ever. It's sooo sad! But way cuter than your typical bodice-ripper, because the romance is emotional rather than physical. Anyway, I'm rambling. They're talking in the kitchen, making pies, and all of a sudden she grabs this huge piece of plastic wrap and presses it against his face, kissing the heck out of him.

it's on youtube (type in "saranwrap kiss")

Also, Edward Norton is an amazing kisser. He specializes in the kind of kiss where you're sitting there on the couch watching and it feels like he's kissing YOU. There's this one from "The Painted Veil" and "The Illusionist". He just grabs her and kisses the crap out of her. That's the way to do it, eh? :)

Hmmm, favourite movie kiss, eh? Well, I have a lot of them (and in no particular order)!

The Notebook:
When Allie and Noah kiss in the rain after they've been reunited. It's such an intense and scene and absolutely wonderful!

Lord of the Rings: Return of the King:
When Aragorn and Arwen finally meet again and he basically snogs the crap out of her! lol. You can tell everything he's done until that point has been for her and he's just so happy that she's there with him!

Jane Eyre Miniseries (2006): (this was a miniseries, but still, long enough to be a movie)
When Rochester and Jane are kissing in the rain underneath the alcove-y thing. It's SO adorable! They're also my OTP so that could be why.

Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World's End
Elizabeth and Will kiss in the middle of a vicious sea battle. It is just all around awesome and amazing scene.

Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back
Han kisses Leia! 'Nuff said!

Star Wars: Attack of the Clones
Basically, anytime Anakin and Padme kiss: they are adorable! ^_^

I think my favorite movie kiss is the one in "The Man From Snowy River". I've loved that movie since I was a kid. But rewatching it later on after reading way too many romance novels gave me a new appreciation for the romance rather than the horses!

1. I agree with the BBC's 2006 version of Jane Eyre with Toby Stephens and Ruth Wilson. Those two kissing *melts*

2. North and South has THE best ending ever. Richard Armitage scowls through the whole movie until the end, when he finally breaks in to a hopeful smile and can't stop kissing her. *squee*

3. Love Pushing Daisies too! And LOTR ROTK ending.

4. At the end of You Got Mail, when Meg Ryan starts to cry and says, "I so wanted it to be you" and he says "Don't cry, Shopgirl" and they kiss. =P

There's a million others that melt my heart too, but I can't think of them!

Ohmygosh I love all these favorite kisses everyone's come up with. It makes me want to run out and rent all the movies/t.v. episodes - and maybe I will - AFTER November.

Operasinger17 - I loved your: "he just grabs her and kisses the crap out of her" lol

Just about any Harrison Ford kiss is amazing in my book. The end-of movie kiss from That Thing You Do! is also in my top five.

Also, is it just me, or do editors in books and movies alike focus all the mistakes into the kissing scenes? I've read books that have NO typos except for one whopper in the single kissing scene. I've also watched superbly animated movies (namely Tarzan) where everything is awe-worthy except for the kiss at the end where the animation is sliding all over the place! Please tell me I'm not the only one bothered by this.

OMG....Kathy your righ!!!

That scene in "Green Card" is my all time favorite. It is when he holds her face and lifts his toward the heavens like he can't believe what's happening. *sigh* And who would have pick Gerard Gibardeau (SP?) as a sexy lead....ooooh baby!

I'm shocked that no one has mentioned The Princess Bride. I mean this was the kiss that broke all records for "the most passionate, the most pure."

My all-time fave is from "Some Kind Of Wonderful." The MMC is about to go on his date with the fabulously beautiful Amanda Brown, and he's talking to his best friend Watts (female, but extremely tomboyish). She contrives to offer give him some kissing practice before he goes ...

Honourable mention goes to the scene in "The Delinquents" where the two main characters bump into each other coincidentally having been forced apart years before. Not a great film but a very romantic kiss.

Moulin Rouge, when Satine and Christian kiss for the first time in the elephant. SWOOOON. On the TV front, pretty much any kiss between Kate and Sawyer, but especially in the second episode of season three ("The Glass Ballerina"), when he just walks up to her and it's just so perfect.

my favorite movie kiss is at the end of Robin Hood:Prince of Theives...right after all the bad guys get killed and it's got the whole "you're alive" thing going for it.

My two favorite on-screen kisses that I can think of are from TV shows.

The first one is from "The Office"- Jim and Pam's kiss in the "Casino Night" episode. Jim had told Pam he was in love with her, and she said "I can't", and then he found her again, later, in the dark office, and he just walked up to her and kissed her, and she kissed back, and it was so sweet and pure and full of love and passion and hope. I get all fluttery every time I watch it.

And a more recent one is from "Chuck" -- Chuck and Sarah in last week's episode-- just because their UST has been building all season, and they both like each other but she told him it was never going to happen, but then they think they're going to get blown up by this bomb, so he closes his eyes waiting for the explosion, and she just grabs his head and kisses him, and he's shocked and his eyes open really big at first, but then he closes his eyes and grabs her head, and then moves one hand and wraps his arm around her waist and pulls her to him really tight, and her hand is fisting his shirt at his shoulder, and pulling at it, and they're kissing so passionately, and then they realize, hey wait, we should have blown up like, ten seconds ago, so they pull their lips apart really slowly, and stare at each other for a minute... and it's just, wow. really hot.

The Holiday-

Cameron Diaz and Jude Law. He comes in to bunk for the night expecting little sis to be home to take care of him. Instead, he finds a beautiful woman there and he asks to come inside because he needs to use the restroom and he needs a place to stay for the night. She lets him and when he comes out they kiss for the first time. They don't even know each other, but they don't think they'll ever see each other again. It gets better through the movie when each kiss they make means that they find they love each other more and more. It's so amazing! I love it!

Pirates of the Carribean- At World's End

OMG- I cried from the part where his heart is taken to the very end of the credits! I love that movie with all my heart!

LotR- RotK-

So romantic...I love the elf, she's so beautiful and Viggo is so HOT, it makes a good match.

There are so many choices, I can't think of anymore...

Both my favorites are tv shows, the first is in The Young Riders, Jimmy just grabs Lou(Louise) and kisses her after she tells him he's a better man than he gives himself credit for. The second is in Lonesome Dove: the Series, when Mosby kisses Hannah when she believes Newt is dead, wow!

Ah, kisses. I have to say that right now my favorite kiss 'of the moment'(lol) was on Private Practice 2? weeks ago. TV kiss, but it was great. Between Sam & Naomi at the very end of the episode. Woo. Also TV wise any kiss between Syd/Vaughn on Alias is always fantastic.

Movies, hm. The Notebook kiss, in the rain after Allie & Noah get off the boat was AMAZING. Also, the kiss from Love & Basketball, when they find out they are going to the same college, and the one in the last scene, when they play against each other. I cry. lol.

Yes, yes, yes! Absolutely. This scene is the epitome of kisses in historical drama. You can see it here on YouTube, though I think the build-up from the previous four hours plays a large part in its amazingness. The way he says, "You're coming home with me?" as if he can't believe that it's happening -- it's just so wonderful. EDIT: There's a longer, better version here.

Another great one is the one between Anne and Captain Wentworth in the 1995 version of Persuasion. The very end, after she's read his letter, and rushes out into the street. This enormous circus parade goes by, and they're completely oblivious to it. See it here.

I have to second the one at the end of You've Got Mail. Love it!

And the one in V for Vendetta ... where she's kissing his mask. I just died! It was so sweet and weirdly romantic. :)

I feel like I've forgot so many other ones too :X

Anytime that Brian and Justin from Quuer As Folk kiss wins, NO COMPETITION!

But, after that, favourites have to Aramgeddon, when AJ comes back and after Willie Sharp has saluted Grace. Ah, but I'm a sucker for that film.

I'm freakishly conservative when it comes to watching people kiss, but my favourite movie kiss is in Edward Scissorhands - it's very sweet and sad. And that almost-kiss in the latest Pride and Prejudice remake, where they're standing in the pavillion and he leans in, but turns away at the last minute. It makes me go running around hugging random people.

My favorite movie kiss is from Dark City where the main guy is in jail and the girl comes to visit him . . . and she's just about to leave, only he really wants to kiss her . . . so he uses his developing psychic powers to shatter the glass, just so he can lean in and kiss her.

I just love that scene, and it's probably one of my all time favorite movie scenes.

I'm seconding whoever said Brian and Justin from QAF. Even though their kissing is usually very sexual, there's just so much love underneath it that you almost forget they're about to bang like bunnies.
