I figured since we got a thread for 35k, we needed one for 45k too.

I hit that at 1 pm today (Friday the 23rd), 4 whole days ahead of schedule. I may hit 50k before the 30th!

I've topped 45,000 somewhere about 1:15 at the write-in in Minneapolis. Hey, where are all the writers that are helping me win this write-off with the twin cities. I've got almost two thousand words this afternoon and qpeskates is at about 1500.

Just updated during my marathon of transcription, and I hit 45k just a bit ago. This last little bit will be too easy. I mean, it's already written, I just have to put it in. BTW, 46K words is about 156 pages in MS Word. :P I've written some lengthy pieces before, but nothing like this. See you guys in the 50K winner's circle.

I've got another day or so of writing before the grand 50K. Sweet baby Jesus, I can't wait! I won't be done with the story when I get to 50K, so I hope to just keep writing instead of screeching to a halt.

Has anyone else had problems with this last stretch? I really have to force myself to sit down to do it, I hate everything I've written, and all possible dreams of revising it to a workable draft are gone, gone, gone. Sigh. It's all been worth it, though. That's for sure.

Yes! Thank you. I've had these thoughts throughout and now I have a 218 page beast that is all over the place. I'm going to tell you it is natural at this stage to feel that way, and if you did the challenge right you should have a steaming heap of chaos. I'll tell you that because I need to believe it too. I hit 50K yesterday but will keep doing my 2000+ word count a day until 11/30. But I'm also going to start organizing what I've already done to see what connective tissue or scenes I need to write in the next 7 days. I'd like to at the least have a beginning, middle and end. Then the real work will start in editing. Maybe I’ll set it aside for a month and work on other things.

But I just know, Cassandra, that when you read your steaming pile, you'll find lots of gems and much you can work with. Best of luck!

Thanks!!! This means a lot. I know everyone has struggled and battled at different points, and I was just a little taken aback that I was still feeling those Week 2 feelings this late in the game. I'm sure there's workable stuff somewhere in those 130-something pages, but I feel like it is crap when taken as a whole. This morning I thought, well, let's see, if someone asked me what my novel was about, what would I say? o__O

I think that I'm just going to keep spewing in the spirit of NaNo even after I hit 50. I know I should put it down for at least a week before I even read it, but it's going to be the Telltale Heart and I'm sure I won't be able to ignore it. Next challenge is how to print it out at work under the radar...ha ha.

The South-Seattle/Tukwila Sunday Write-In WriMo's know EXACTLY what to say when someone asks them what their novel is about.

all i need is 4000 more... i probably could've had something like 400,000 maryland guy by now if i were more dedicated.... my genre is weird and so its easy to get wordcount... mostly stream of consciousness. (really a print version of my own personal version of bash.org: chat logs.) I can get 10,000 words in like 4 hours on one chatroom with like 7 or 8 people.

I hit 45k around noon and celebrated by taking a break and seeing a movie with my girls! Unless my older girl decides to go into labor and present me with my first grandchild, I should hit the winner's mark by Thursday at the lastest.

Wheeeee.

I'm a first-time NaNo'er. At first, it was so difficult and challenging to think "I have to write 1667 words today." Then, it was like "pah, that's less than two hours." Now, it's like "well, I'm a little ahead from yesterday, and I want to add/edit [list of 1,000 things], so I'll just do what I have to to get to 50k by Friday morning."

I like my novel, but man, have I learned not to write a novel without an outline...

45,236!!!
I had a scare today and thought briefly that about 7,000 words got lost...but they've been found. Thank goodness, as it takes me about 2 hours to peck out each 1,000!

Finally! 45,001 and the path begins to slope downward toward the light at the end of the tunnel. No idea what my characters will find when they get there, but that's the fun of it! Congrats to everyone who has hit or surpassed 50,000, and to everyone who hasn't, but is still writing furiously, KEEP GOING!

I finally got past 45k and I'm also back where I should be. I had a week of in the middle of the month, but now I'm about 400 words ahead. With enough of a push I may even finish tomorrow.
