Come on gang! We have less than a week left. You CAN do this. I don't care how behind you are. You can still do it.
I'm just shy of 20k. I have a ~50+hour work week this week, and have been struggling the whole month with a massive attack of writers block. Yet I'm going to do it. I'm determined. Even if I have to blow up half the universe in the process, and have ninjapiratemonkeys invade, and play a game of "never ever have I ever" with a bunch of drunken characters in a bar, and have the translation service go intermittent, and have mass confusion resulting in everything needing to be said in various degrees of unintelligibility several times over until the message can be pieced together (ooh, there's an idea!)....
50k will happen. Because I believe it will.
And you know what?
I believe you can do it too.
Don't worry about writing well. Seriously. Coherency can come in editing.
For now? Just get the words on the page.
You can do it. 50k isn't that much, objectively speaking. Relax. Just write. Quit thinking about everything else you need to do. Quit beating yourself up about being behind. Let someone else take care of the rest of the world for a change. Lock yourself somewhere where there are no distractions, put on some good writing music, (personally, I use brainless pop a lot lately), and let the words come.
And you know what? Even if you don't make 50k? Any words you wrote this month? Are still that many more words than you had going into it, and even trying this crazy* thing takes a lot of courage. Sticking it out this long? Takes a lot of strength. You are ALL winners in my book, no matter the final word count.
And I think I need to go take my own advice for a bit, and write another few hundred before bed.

Jami, Thanks for the encouragement! I have gotten distracted with work, miserable finances, and to many stacks in my study.
I think I'll see what I can get done this morning before work, then more after. 50k was/is important to me on the road to actually getting more than a poem published.
I can put aside most of the distractions for a week long push. Here goes everything.

Any one can do it if they put there mind to it! I can only thank my first few days for my wonderful word count, but push for the finish! My whole introduction is confusing and yet I haven't edited it yet! 50k is a nice number, but 30k is as well- don't think about the numbers, just write and let your brain get carried away with fanciful ideas... and then only after you run out of things to type that day do you look at your word count. Let's make it to that finish line!

I agree, coherancy is overrated. Since I planned badly and left some integral part of everyone of my school projects I was going to work on back at school, I guess I'll be finishing tonight, although I'm damn tired.
And tomorrow I'll be damn tired from driving six hours, research note-taking, and detailed outlining for my research paper rough draft I substituted NaNo for. Blah. But I'll be finished.

I'M UP TO ALMOST 27K! YES! I *FINALLY* found a cable for my Alpha so I'm SET! WOOHOO!!!
I'm planning on TRYING to write 4k a day until I'm finished... but I *DO* have school tomorrow and stuff to do. :)

Hooray for finding a cable! :D Alas. I must awaken early to tackle the dreaded thesis paper, which is why I'm doing what I can to get ahead of schedule as possible.

Yay for pep talks and MLs who believe in us. Goals are good, and whatever goal we meet this month is an awesome one. I should steal the ninja pirate monkeys for my story. They would go oh so well. ::sniggers::
I wish everyone luck with reaching their goals. MIne is to finish the damn novel - come hell or high water, though since its neither summer and hot nor rainy season i think neither of those shall come to pass.

Last 2k word sprint... I need to finish early, and this will be the first year that I do. The last two wins were within the last hour of November. So go me. :) Maybe next year I'll try for 100k.

Yep, I've been on a big push this week. Thank god for a supportive and understanding husband who deserves a HUGE thank you next weekend.
I'm almost caught up the deficit from week two and I WILL finish 50K. Of course, I have this huge issue with pacing and only three days have gone by in the life of my heroine. I've got to get to the conflict before I get to the end. :)
Thanks for the encouragement, Jami. You're great!
See you all at 50K!

Aw, pacing is overrated too. You can do it!
(I'm pushing this week, too. Some silly notion of wanting to finish the book in the month...not going to happen, but oh well. Sprinting is fun! [ducks from hurled bouncy-balls and jack-o-lanterns ;) ])

I am sprinting to the line. The words are just piling up! Well, not yet today, but they will after school when I am sitting around for an hour and a half for sectionals to start. That is when I will hit the jackpot! =)
I am setting my goal for Thursday at 11:00pm. If I haven't won by then, it's okay, but that is when I would love to be done, so I don't have to deal with the stress that is writing on the last day. :/
So I am off to do my work now. Toodles!

I'm committing to three 6k days in a row. I started today at 34k and I'm almost 4k done for the day, so I'm feeling mighty fine. Gotta love this weather, too--nice enough that I can leave my puppy outside for 4 hours without fearing for the little sensitive guy.
"Uhhh I couldn't write cuz I had to stay with my dog." Yup that's pretty lame.
Anyway, hi again everyone and congrats to you early winners! I hope to be done by Wednesday night but at least I'm leaving a couple days' cushion "just in cases!"

I hit 45k this morning (11/27) and hope to finish the next day's word count before I go to bed tonight. If I can maintain this pace through Wednesday I should finish the thing Thursday morning. Ah, it's nice to have a week off work.

45,440 words! It's so close I can smell it! And it smells like blueberries!
I don't believe it. I've never written more than 5,000 words of anything in my life! If I can do it, we all can do it!
Go! Go! Go!
Andy.
P.S. God, I need sleep.
