Lately I've been letting the NaNoWriMo-bots update my word count for me because Microsoft Word counts words with - between (i.e. 'NaNo-bot')them and words like "well...okay?" as one word and this web site counts them as two. When I copied and pasted, somehow I accidentally did it twice, I guess, because it said I was a winner. When I fixed the problem, the word count is right but the bar is still purple and still says winner.
Oops.

My best bet would be to post in the Site Feedback forum, so that way you can get cybele or firebus's attention -- they're the forum admins, and they can probably reset your WC so that way it's right. Sometimes, stuff like that happens, so it's not the end of the world.
On the bright side -- incentive to finish?

Don't feel bad. Last year my wordcount mysteriously went from 50,387 to 23,000 or something like that, AFTER I had my purple bar! It was kind of embarrassing, but I made my signature line:
PAY NO ATTENTION TO THAT WORD COUNT! ala the Wizard of Oz.
A few people asked me about it, but most anybody that went on my 'progress update' saw that it had steadily gone upward, and then it plummeted, and knew it was a screw-up on their part. I didn't worry much about it all year...
On the other hand, at the rate I've written the last four days (about 800 words), maybe I ought to try that! Thanks for the tip! LOL
Keep writing. We'll get there!
