Okay, since we're stretching on to the finish line, it's time to make plans for the final party of the year.

Well, I want your input on what you guys want to do for our end-of-NaNo party! Do you want to do it this Saturday or sometime next week? What days and times are good for you all?

Also, suggestions of where we could go and have this little bash. We could have it at someone's place (if they were gracious to host) or go out to dinner somewhere!

Post in here with your ideas and I'll come up with a plan for our bash. Thanks guys!

Saturday may or may not be good for me, as I might have other meetups I need to go to (but don't let that deter anyone-I still need to work it out and as far as I know, Saturday might be absolutely perfect)

We have a lot to celebrate this year...I believe this is the first year we've broken 1 million words as a region! If not, then I'd imagine this is at least the earliest we've done it, meaning we've done it (wait for it) ...with gusto!

As far as I know, I might be free this Saturday. Dinner or something would be great, but I have no ideas as to where. XD Depends on the kind of dinner everyone wants. I mean, obviously, it has to accomodate a large noisy crowd, but... What kind of food? Do we want it to be like a buffet, or something more casual (you can order but you don't have to), or what? o.o;...

Too bad it's so cold. It would've been awesome if there was like, a bash in the park. XD

El Chico has a separate room, and yummy guac. Good flan, too.

I haven't been to Friday's since they renovated, but they have great appetizers and drinks. And its always loud there, so we'd fit right in. Plus, they have trivia.

Oh! San Fran oven? Dinner, wine, dessert, what more do we need? Well, a private room would be nice.

Um, Acambero has good margaritas, and fajita nachos, and fajita tacos, and its all pretty cheap and really yummy. Not sure when they close, but yum. They're on the corner of Glenstone and Sunshine, so I tend to go there a lot for work.

I've always wanted to see if the Mijuri sushi and rhythm is fun, that might be interesting to try. I hear they're nice there, and the sushi is fairly cheap. <3 sushi.

I can't think of anything else. Anyone? Yes no hell-no?

If it is to be held on a Saturday and I can have enough notice to try and beg someone to switch work shifts with me I can do it. Most likely though Saturday afternoon/evenings I work :( However the list of food you created is now making me hungry!

I'll go where ever, when ever, as long as I can get a ride.

Also, I have a perfectly good copy of Dramatica Pro to give away. I tried it once and didn't like it. It's been sitting on our shelf for years. The box was cat-shredded beyond all recognition long ago, but all the stuff is still there.

I'll be giving this away to anyone who wants it at the party. If more than one person wants it we can draw names.

O.o;; Didn't realize it's over... hell....

Anyway, I'm up for anything. I like Umi's for sushi. Dunno if I'll have money for it though, and I'm open at any point.

Yaay, I want to come! I work on Thursdays and Saturdays, but I should be free on Saturday evening. I am free on Sunday and pretty much any time next week that I don't have class. :)

I will not be picky about the place, but I'd like somewhere that has at least a few good vegetarian options. Not sure if I could eat anything at a sushi place...

Okay guys, I'm setting the date for next Saturday. December 8th. I figure that gives everyone a little over a week to make sure they can make it.

As for the place, keep making suggestions and collaborate where you all would like to go. Most places won't let us make reservations, so it's just going to be one of those situations where I go in early and ask for a table. Thanks for the help guys!

DUDE UMI'S IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. <3!!! They have sushi and kickass green tea and amazing miso soup. Mmmm, miso soup. *0*

... then again, I'm always going to be more partial towards Oriental food. 8D;

Umm, uuhhh. Oh, hey. St. Louis Bread Co. has that upstairs area and whatever. Saturdays are prolly busy for them, and thus noisy, thus, perfect. XD They have pretty damn good desserts, too. <3 (Or, you know, deserts.)

Aww... Saturday is the busiest day of the week for me, one of the few days I can actually make money (I work at the basketball games)... I have two games to work on the 8th. Can we please have it some other day? Friday or Sunday, perhaps? :)

Looking at the other replies here, Saturday would hardly be good for anyone!

Friday the 7th would be A-OK. :) Hey, it's ArtWalk! We should hang out in downtown Springfield just seeing the sights for a while. We could eat at Bailey's, the new American place that replaced Rasta Grill (ohhh Rasta Grill... Why did you ever leave us??)... We could eat at Riad if we're willing to shell out some money... There's an Italian place too, and others that I do not remember. Anyway, downtown Springfield is something to consider!

I second Downtown. Bailey's is good and the service is friendly. Plus on Friday there's usually at least two hotdog stands. We can also pop into the Well Fed Head. I'm sure they'll love us.

Friday the 7th would be a little more difficult for me, as it's the last meeting of the Anime Club on campus and I'll probably be expected to be there the whole time, maybe even a little longer (I'm running a tournament for Smash Bros) So my availability depends on when we'll start. If it's around 8, I could see about getting some wiggle room. Earlier than that, though, and it'd be more difficult.

Art Walk doesn't really rev up until 8:00 anyway. I never bother going out before that.

Yeah, It'd probably be around 8 PM if we wanted to meet up. I have to agree with the "Eat downtown and then hit up ArtWalk" idea. Sounds like the perfect place for all of us to be. Anyone have objections to it?

... uuuhhhh. ...

I have absolutely no idea how my parents would take to the idea. xD They were reluctant enough to let me go to the first Artwalk with three other high school students, I have no idea how they'll like me traipsing around with a crew of college kids downtown. *die* And I think Dad has to work, so he wouldn't be able to come with, and Mom probably wouldn't want to come (and if she did come, my brother would have to come, too, and, um... ...), and Gayle's not going to be there, and that's the one person Mom said could give me a ride home from meetings if I needed to...

... ... *die.*

Did something change or what?

Oh. XD See, I didn't know she promised. *clueless*

Oh, oh. Where's everyone going to meet downtown? It would probably be easiest if we pick a restaraunt ahead of time and then decide to meet there. (I say this because my parents might let me go to dinner at least, but they were asking where everyone would meet up and etc.)

I think I'm just gonna book a room somewhere on Saturday, or maybe later on in December, and have my own THIO. I'll announce the details and if anyone wants to come, go ahead. I don't mean to steal the thunder from the main event, but Friday is completely out for me. It'll probably be one of the Paneras, a place where you'd just have to get a drink or something.

Again, I don't mean to sound like I'm detracting from the main event, but I missed THIO last year and would really like to celebrate it this year. I just can't get out of my commitments on Friday.

If it were on Saturday, I could come as long as it started after 6:30. I know, it probably will... I just hadn't looked at my schedule too thoroughly before. So Saturday is doable for me after all. Sorry about the confusion; I'm just no good at reading my work schedule. Grrrr!

Phil, your idea of having two parties is not bad. We may not be able to all get together at the same time, but that doesn't mean we have to keep pushing this back farther and farther. And those who can come to both of them will get twice the fun.

Gayle MUST come to at least one of them! :)

Two parties would be amazing, and very handy. =D

Saturday's also doable for me, as long as it's after, like, three. My band is marching in the Christmas parade -- and that's this Saturday -- so, yeah. ^^; (COME SEE US, YO! We're the first marching band~)

Okay guys - the party is still going on tomorrow. We're gonna meet at 7:00 PM at Bailey's (where Rasta Grill used to be - 319 W Walnut St), for those of you that are coming.

Let anyone who isn't on the forums know! :)

Yeah, Friday night's slated to be somewhat nasty, but hopefully the roads stay okay. My commute wasn't terribly bad today-I'd heard there were lots of wrecks (one fatal) but I only saw a minor fender bender.

I'm gonna call off my Saturday evening one. I like the idea of having two parties, and I'm pleased by the positive response. Still, I think it's best not to hold them right together, especially with the threat of inclement weather greater as the weekend goes on (Apparently Sunday night could be Ice Storm-The Sequel? The forecast wouldn't seem to uphold that, but people have been talking...) I'd like to hold one when Finals and the Holidays have passed and more people will be free to hang out. Even if that doesn't make it a true THIO, I still think it'd be cool to meet up anyway. You guys are too awesome to only see one month out of the year XD

Have fun tomorrow, guys!

FINALLY <3 Time and place. *joy~*

Yeeah. XD I might not do Artwalk (unless my parents are going to; my dad has the day off), because it's bloody cold.

x_x I'm torn between going "Yay ice storm Saturday!" and "Please God no." The former comes from the part of me that doesn't want to march in the parade. The latter comes from the part of me that remembers that I wasn't in town for the last storm and didn't lose power at all, and knows I'm going to be in town this time.

Eeeek. *rolls*

Can anyone give me a ride to Bailey's tonight? I'll try convincing the other Drury-ites to come along too!
