Greetings, fellow TC Wrimos--
Every year when the glorious month of Nanovember comes to a close, we celebrate our efforts and/or victories by gathering for the TGIO Party (that's Thank God It's Over). Whether you make the 50K goal or not, you are invited to join us for a rolicking good time!
Here's the basic info, with more details following:
TGIO Party
1:00 - 4:00 pm on Saturday, December 1
at The Loft, Open Book Center
1011 Washington Avenue South
(2nd floor) (612) 215-2575
It's Potluck! So please bring a dish to share.
MLs will provide plates, cups, supplies, etc.,
Beverages can be brought from home or purchased from the Coffee Gallery on the first floor.
We will have a donation bucket like last year, to cover the cost of the party AND, we will send any extras to Nanowrimo Central. It's great if you can put in a dollar to help cover party costs, but more importantly, we are welcoming donations big or small to help the Nano organization in continuing to do this wonderful thing they do every year. So, if you haven't had a chance to make a donation to Nano yet, here's a great and easy way to do it. You can even write a check! Don't forget, after Nanowrimo covers its operational costs, it uses the money for its Young Writers Program, which gets kids excited about writing! So let's help keep Nano going for next year!
This year, we will try out having readings again... it's totally optional, but if you'd like to read an excerpt of your Nano-novel, we will let people sign up to read. This time we are going to have scheduled times for readings, so that the party has a mix of time for readings and time for socializing. People will have 3 minutes to read (we figure about 3 double-spaced pages), so plan your material accordingly. The first set of readings will be from 1:30 - 2 pm, and the second set will be from 2:30 - 3 pm (depending on the popularity, we could have a third set later on, too). **Sign up sheets will be at the party. **
If you don't want to read your work aloud but would still like to share your work, we will have again an area for excerpts to be set on tables in a reading area. People can read each other's excerpts at leisure. This was very popular last year! You could have more than 3 pages for this.
If you've never been to The Loft, here's some info on how to get there from their website. The Loft is a great organization for writers, and they have been so generous to let us host our TGIO Parties there for 3 years in a row! It's a great website to look around, too.

I know people worry about parking, but there is plenty available in this neighborhood. There are parking meters on side streets, parking lots on 11th Ave, and parking ramps by the Guthrie on 2nd Street. Here is more info from the Guthrie: http://www.guthrietheater.org/visit/driving_parking
So let's see, have I forgotten anything? I think that's everything! And now, just so we get an idea of how many are planning to come, just RSVP on this thread. We hope many of you will join us to celebrate another great Nanovember!

I wish I could make it up to the Cities for this, but it's the weekend of Christmas Fest here at Olaf, so I'm helping cater the Norwegian food for 6 hours over the time period so I can't. Have fun everyone though! (i really need to make it to one of these some year. too bad I bet this is going to happen for the next couple of years since the opportunity to earn money instead of spend it comes so rarely in college)

3 coming = I, my nephew and my sister will be here.

Nov 26, 2007 - 18 42
I'll be there. I will also need to bring my son(6) and daughter (10). I hope that is okay.
See you then. As of now, I have about 3000 words to go.

I'll be there, compensating for not being at the kick-off party by being extra excited and possibly dressing up as one of my characters.

Nov 26, 2007 - 20 58
I'll come. I'll bring food. I could even be convinced to read an excerpt, but I warn you all, I am not a great narrator.

Nov 26, 2007 - 21 03
Well, i have a feeling i'm not going to make it to 50k words but i'm definitely planning on being at the party with 2 friends in tow~ Good luck to everyone still chugging away and I hope to see you there! ^____^

It'll probably be just me. Wish I had the time to crochet a hat similar to the one my MC wears through most of the story.
I'll make sure to read something other than the Breakfast Excerpt.

I certainly plan to attend, with faithful Hubbyman in tow. I'll be at 50K but I don't know if I will be to the end of my story by Dec 1. I hate to print off the story when it is not entirely done, and before I 've had a chance to do even a rough edit. (Like making sure poor Tom didn't turn into Tome a couple of times) so I don't know as I'll have anything to read or share. But I may surprise myself and get it all written by Saturday. I look forward to seeing everyone.

As my first official post in my first official year of NaNoWriMo, I would like to officially say that I will be there. That's pretty durn official.

I'll be there.

I'll be coming, just me.
50,089 / 50,000
Nov 27, 2007 - 08 27
I'll be there. I'll have to dig a little and see if there is anything worth reading from this year's novel.
52,427 / 50,000
Nov 27, 2007 - 14 34
i'll be there! and will bring some kind of food. Not sure what, at present time.
50,497 / 50,000
Nov 27, 2007 - 15 35
Unless for some reason I forget (which would be pretty unlikely but has been known to happen), I will be there. Any suggestions on stuff a relatively poor college student without access to a kitchen could bring to such an event?
50,275 / 50,000
Nov 27, 2007 - 15 45
I shall certainly plan to attend.
8,424 / 50,000
Nov 27, 2007 - 16 50
I think it sounds fun. If I were not so un-geeky, I would have participated in forums previously to get to know some of my fellow-nanowrimoers, but meeting in person is even better. See you Saturday!

Coming! (Me, and perhaps only me.)

Nov 27, 2007 - 19 45
I'm coming, though I'll probably be late. (because I like to sleep)

I cannot come. I have to work, and I really need the money this month.

I will be there.

I'll be there *if* I can bring my 5-year-old daughter. If not...well, I can't very well turn her out on the street, can I?

Nov 28, 2007 - 07 05
It is fine to bring kids. We will let people who are reading their material to give a disclaimer if they will have explicit scenes or profanity before they read.

I'm definitely going to try to make it, weather permitting--with a pan-o'-midwestern-something-hotdish-esque (man, there's one that you won't find in Webster's).
Thanks for the heads-up on this, Sapphirestar!

Nov 28, 2007 - 09 27
I'm coming, but only for about an hour, because I have to get to work by 2. Grrr... dang job!
Poor college students -- think crunchy! Or think "pop!" There's nothing like a lovely hotdish (or, during nano, HOT DISH), but the best part of the TGIO party is meeting everyone.
Thanks again to Sapphire and Nell for putting this together. :-)

I will be there! Not sure about the SO. I will bring gluten- and dairy-free treats!

I will be there, as will buppyspek. There will be some kind of potluck appropriate food type item as well. :)

Nov 28, 2007 - 20 20
I'm going to try to show up. My friend needs to use my car to get to work in Hudson that day, but I think I can probably make it before she needs to go. So, count me in! I plan to have won by then, and I have a nice little bit from the ending that I'd like to read. I'm excited! I've never yet made it to a TGIO. *Gasp* I got sick last year. ;___; So I'm hoping to make it this year! (Weather permitting, of course)

*Waves at all preemptively* I will most likely be there, probably late but nonetheless with these: http://www.recipezaar.com/8166 unless I find something more... symmetrical? *writing side effects, search for word* *shuts up*

Don't think you can count on me being there... If all goes through with the house purchase, I'll be tearing down a wall at that point. I'll try and escape the construction, buuuuuuut... It will take the whole weekend to do.

I will try to come, if I can convince my husband to go. We have a birthday party at 3, (for my neice, so no skipping) And being the NON-party animal that he is, it may too much to convince him, "TGIO for hour and a half, then neice's party until we're done." HOWEVER, if I CAN get him to say sure, that will be 4 of us, (our 2 kids as well). I will try to think of something I can put in a disposable dish, so I can leave it there.
