Anyway, hi everyone. This'll be my first NaNoWriMo. I'm pretty excited, mostly to see how well I can do and how close I can come to the word count. Writing has been a long time love of mine, and I've come up with a good number of stories. Some are okay, some are crap, and some are really good. This'll be my first time trying my hand at fantasy. Sort of. Incorporating fantasy aspects into a western.

So, just saying hi to all the vet writers and any newcomers like me.

Greetings Saskatchewan Nanowrimos!

Now that I’m officially your ML, I should introduce myself. My name is Sandra, and this will be my third year participating in Nanowrimo (hopefully my third win too), and my first year as a Municipal Liaison. I just moved to Regina from Ottawa on October 7 (yes, I‘ve only lived in this city for 2 days so far, and I want to be your ML…I‘m that crazy).

I have already started planning some events and write-ins for the Regina area. I do sincerely apologize to those outside of Regina. I don’t mean to neglect you…I’m only one person (at the moment). I do encourage anyone who is interested in being an ML to please sign up. You can do so here.

I am in the process of creating a calendar of events for all the write-ins, kick off party, and TGIO party. If you would like me to add any write-ins (particularly outside of Regina), please provide me with all the details, and I will gladly add it.

I am super excited to be your ML. Please don’t hesitate to ask any questions…I’m here to help!

Teens Of Saskatchewan

Heyo! It's great to see lots of saskatchewanians participating! I was just wondering how many teens are participating this year. It would be really mint if we could keep in touch with each other, I like talking to other teens who are into story writing. Also is anybody's story taking place in Saskatchewan? I was thinking of a making a fictional place in Saskatchewan, but I have not decided yet.

I don't remember anyone stepping forward to be Municipal Liaison after raicara stepped down. Is that correct? Really, we should have 2 for the province - probably based in Regina and Saskatoon. Here's the info about MLs from the NaNo site:

Municipal Liaisons are local volunteers who help organize NaNoWriMo groups in their hometowns. Being an ML can be serious work, but it's also a lot of fun. I mean, what could be more rewarding than the undying love, devotion, and gratitude of your fellow writers? (Besides finishing a novel in 30 days, of course.) If you'd like to become an ML for your area, read on...

Here’s who we're looking for:

* Over 18 years old -- we know our younger crew is full of boundless energy and great ideas, we just don’t want to be the reason you don’t get into college.
* Have done NaNoWriMo before -- writing a novel in 30 days is insane; writing a novel in 30 days while trying to wrangle a posse of itinerant novelist is, well, more insane. We just prefer you know what you’re getting into with the first NaNoWriMo before you sign-on to ML for the second.

Here’s what you’ll need to do:

* Commit to the whole 30 days -- if you sign up, we need you to show up. And not just for the kick-off party. We need people who aren’t going to fade into the background as soon as the word count gets tough. Your fellow writers are depending on you.
* Coordinate meetings and events -- kick-offs, TGIO parties, weekly write-ins.
* Answer every email -- don’t know the answer? Ask me.
* Moderate your regional forum -- you’ll be reading it anyway… all you need to do is make sure people play nice. And if they don’t, gently remind them of the rules of conversation.
* Engage in some light fundraising -- whether you post a link in your Regional Lounge, send out an email to participants, or pass around a cup at write-ins, your fundraising efforts help keep NaNoWriMo churning out the magic.
* Reach your 50,000 words -- okay, we can’t hold you to that, but it’s much easier to be a role model to your troops when you actually accomplish the task.
* Whatever else floats your boat -- hound local press for coverage, work with local schools, you know, over-achieve.

This will be my 3rd year and the first time when I haven't focused on a storyline or an idea I want to develop. *laughs*

But more importantly . . .

Are we going to do the weekly coffee breaks again this year?

If yes, where? When? (I might need a ride so I am getting in some early & polite begging.)

Who's from Regina?

It's my first year of nanowrimo, and also my first year of university. I'm doing it because a friend of mine (also first year) suckered me into it. I figure we need to figure out who's in Regina and meet up in November. I'm generally better at these kinds of things when I can see who's sufferi- I mean having FUN! with me.
So whoever's from Regina ... We need to introduce ourselves. And then we can help each other write!
