Is anyone interested in a year round writers' group? I think it would be great to have the camaraderie and support. I'd be willing to facilitate, or co-facilitate. I have been in writers' groups/workshops before, and I also have a background in teaching writing, (but I wouldn't lord it over everyone, or want to be in charge--honest!).
Think about it and let me know,
Julie

I'm reposting this in case any of you missed it on the "Georgia :: Elsewhere" forum.
I like the idea of a writer's group comprised of local yokels, whoever the leader turns out to be. I would also like all of you to join me on either facebook or myspace, so that even if we can't meet in person every once in a while, we can exchange ideas and stories online. Also, this would be a great way to set up meeting times and places. If I get enough people on either site (or another if you'd like), I'll create a private group so that we can feel free to post whatever we want help with. We could even create a group on yahoo for those that don't wish to register accounts at either facebook or myspace.
Let me know what you'd like to do!

Hi Sara:
A year round writer's group would be great! That's one of the things we're going to discuss at the meeting tomorrow. I believe Julie is going to try to be there also and it sounds like she has some good experience with writer's groups. Someone to run a website for those who can't always make the meetings would be a plus and would keep the communication going. Whatever we come up with we'll put it out for everyone else's imput on the forum.
Try to make the meeting if you can tomorrow. I'm hoping everyone on the forum can make it since it's our "Thank Goodness It's Over!" get together. (Next year we're going to work on bringing NaNo to the attention of Savannah early and get a bigger and better response).

The facebook link doesn't work for me for some reason? Maybe 'cause I'm not in your network?
Anyway, a year-round writers' group sounds like a nice idea. SCAD has a club called Writers' Block that meets once weekly to share written pieces and offer friendly critiques, so anything like that would be pretty awesome for me.
For running a website for updates, blogspot/blogger's system is great for facilitating multiple users updating one blog, so that would probably be an ideal way for communication if the Facebook/Myspace stuff doesn't fly.

We could also make a community at Livejournal. I'd prefer that or Blogspot to any of the social network sites. Also, there are a number of wiki farms if we want to go the free wiki route (wikidot being my favorite of those).

Oh, if it's LJ versus Blogger, I vote for LJ. I use it a lot more often and was actually posting bits of my NaNo there before I spazzed out for those last 20k words because everything stopped making sense and the story was no longer presentable, lol.
