Anyone know the names of good agents and small press publishers for litfic? I've checked the Writers and Artists Yearbook, but they seem to only list the bigger publishing houses ...

Well, I am going to take a shot after some revision. Don't know about the UK, but here a good agent is probably needed to sell a literary novel. http://www.aar-online.org/mc/page.do is where I would normally send folks. Curious how it works in your part of the world. :)

I will, in a while. I have another novel, probably more mainstream and lit (though it straddles the line) that I'm going to start editing soon and start shopping around next year. Whether it sells or not, once I finally get around to finishing the edit on this novel (late next year, after I finish the first draft, do that edit for the other novel, and write something else in the meantime) I'll shop this one around, too.
Literary fiction isn't inherently unpublishable. Go to B&N or Borders. Look at the 'fiction' section. Most of the books, at least the ones that are trade paperback, are probably straddling close to lit fic.

Also, I love http://www.agentquery.com when I'm sending out the queries. You can do searches on agents based on genre and if they are currently looking for new authors.

Greywolf(ves?) Press only take Lit Fic, along with som poetry and nonfic. if i go anywhere with my novel, i'd definaly send it...they need agents though...now that I think about it.
